This season I’ve found myself using my spinning gear minimally. I bought new curados with the mgl spool and throw 90% of my lures with them. I’ve wanted to get a bfs reel to try. It had me thinking has anyone gone full bfs and gone away with spinning gear? I’m sure this is user specific and I’ll want a spinning rod on windy days. I’d say almost all of my fishing is on rivers where long casts arnt the primary concern. Accuracy is.

If you want a true vertical fall with a light lure (senko, ned, etc), you'll need a spinning rod. But yeah, I only have two spinning rods, and the rest are casting rods, with 4 of them being in the BFS class for lighter open water moving baits.

Fishing FFS, Mooch Minnows, Ned’s and drop and shots are always reasons to keep a few spinning rods onboard.

BFS has replaced spinning for certain presentations that I just don't enjoy throwing on a spinning combo. Tiny jerkbaits, top water walking baits, poppers, micro jigs, texas rigs etc. If I'm throwing a drop shot, skipping a senko, going true ultralight, I'm still reaching for a spinner.

I bought 4 Curado BFS reels. Now I only use spinning for small swim baits.

Quit the spinning life in very early 2013. Never looked back. Never coming back.

Glad to know I’m not completely crazy to think this. I’ll probably pick a combo up and see what I can do.

I love BFS. It has almost become my primary source of bass fishing but it has not replaced all of my spinning gear. I still use it for Ned Rigs, wacky worms, drop shot, and most of my small paddle tail swimbaits.

My bfs is my least used bass setup, but I fish around cover often. I could use it for river smallmouth, but am not interested in prolonging the fight just because, so I'll stick with my M rods for brown bass and MH for green bass. Just use what you want and who cares what others think as it's all just preference or opinion and nothing more. Fads are for fools.
