I haven't seen one in person yet, but I'm sure it's a fine reel. However, it's VERY disappointing to me that Shimano has raised their prices so dramatically on all their  "New for 2007" reels.  $700 for the new Stella 2500FC, $159 for the Stradic and $350 for the Core.

I hope The Reel Mechanic can keep my "old junk" working for a few more years! ::)

Hey Raul,

Next time you're shaving and face-to-face with The Bait Monkey, tell Him to lay off for the next few months so you can save a few pesos and meet your compadres up north at the 3rd Annual BassResource.com outing. Tell him, He can come along and bring all his VERY SPECIAL toys. Over the long-run this would be very good for The Monkey, like (almost) free advertising!

I would sure like to meet Him, aaaaa..., I mean you with your "matte red" Pixy.

Mano a mano ole banana breath is unbeatable Kent, so far in the last 3 months he had made me purchase another Pixy, 4 of those Cabela 's TDZs and the Core, now he has in his sights a rod for one of the Pixys, something really  8-), matching colors n 'stuff, he wants an Abu Fantasista Regista for that rodless Pixy.  ::)

The darned never ending story, no wonder why I 'm always flat broke.  :-/

I think the Core is a pretty good deal at $350.  Chronarch 100mgs used to go for $330 and I actually prefer those over Calaises. The Core seems to split the difference in features and price.

No Problem

I hear the left handed version is not coming out until at least the spring of 2008. I was told the left handed ones don't sell as well. So it looks like I'll have to call in the Japanese Bait Monkey & pick up a couple of Matanium Mg-7's.

The left-handed ones don't sell as well because they are a minority of the population (12-15%).   ::)
