BPS, they said it would ship this year...I think

Featured Replies

So I thought I would give BPS's a try. Everything seems ok...but....it's been over a week since I ordered and nothing. Do they alway's take this long to get items to you w/o going the high speed shipping route????

Yes. I hate orfering from BPS because they are SLOW! It took my last order 15 days to get here.

Yes, they take forever.  My last order took three weeks and when it arrived one of the lures I ordered was damaged in the box.  I then shipped it back and it took two weeks to get a new one.  I have had better luck with tackle warehouse and another site. There are also the many sponsor of this site.  All have been highly recommended.

I needed a new tach for the new motor on my boat, so I thought I would try the Faria's they sell. They look nicer than the Teleflex ones everybody else has. Got some spooks on sale cheap too and a store brand reel to try. I didn't think it was going to take this long to get the stuff though. :-/

O yeah they are slow.... I ordered some snake boots from them earlier this year and paid the extra $ to get them  overnighted.... Everywhere else that I have gotten stuff overnight from sent it out next day because they put it at the 1st of the line in order of priority.. I ordered it on a Monday thinking I would have them at least by Thursday... Nope they arrived the next Monday

I am not trying to justify BPS and their shipping just maybe explain a little to you guys.

They sell way more than you can imagine.  It is into the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stuff if not into the billions.  Their catalog order dept has 100 telephone operators.  The service is going 24/7.

A friend of mine who works for UPS told me that they have 5 tractor trailers daily filled with just rods not counting all the other stuff.

i get my stuff within 4-5 days....i can't complain... :o

I have never had any problems with delivery time, I live in Canada and get it between 8-10 days. And I usually order on a the weekend. According to their site it should take 10-14 business days. So mine always arrives early.

5 to 10 days for me.

While this may be true, they are still a retail business, not a discount business. A retail business has an expectation of providing service with their product. This would include, but not be limited to, a good repair/replacement policy, a good exchange policy, a good return policy, and a good shipping policy. I hear/read thier return, exchange, and repair/replacement policy's are pretty good, but thier shipping policy seems to come up short. I have contacted them both on the phone and online, and I have yet to be able to find out the status of my order or been able to track it. This is where a lot of my concern lies. IMO, 8+ day's should be a worse case delivery time, not the norm.

I'm most likley not going to completely hold this against them, but I do know I won't be ordering anything I need from them. There are plenty of places selling the products at the same price, if not cheaper, and will get them to you in a week or less.

I agree with you pfluemis. Having worked retail for many years  :'(, customers expect and demand only the highest levels of service. And they should. In comparison, I like Cabelas...alot. I have never ordered from them that my product wasn't to my door in 3 days, maybe 4 one time. This is after they confirm my order and tell me that I will recieve in 5-7 business days. I have ordered from bass pro twice in the last couple months, once it was about 7 days and the other time it was thirteen. If you compare, it is easy to see why Cabelas gets alot of my business. Being busy is not an excuse, Hire more, upgrade technology, or simply make sure your employees are as efficient as possible. I can not say I am unhappy with Bass Pro, simply that I would look at Cabelas first. It also helps that the nearest Cabelas is only an hour away and the nearest bass pro is 5 hours away.

Look put it into perspective ITS FISHING EQUIPMENT NOT PRESCRITION DRUGS

I am sure when I order from BPS they do not stop and say MUDDY NEEDS THIS REEL OR HE"S GONNA DIE< Ill drive it to him now!

Lets put things into perspective. If I am on a trip or something breaks I need pronto I buy it in person On the spot.

Their warranty/exchange and service depts have sevrved me and my buddies in an excellent fashion FOR Years, truthfully thts what keeps me coming back to them

If I see something I like in either BPS or Cabels on thier web sites I order it and when it gets here it gets here. I use both sites, sometimes stuff comes right away sometimes I wait for it BIG DEAL I didnt have to drive far to get it. Geezz Its fishing equipment!

PS Also when ordering some products( Especially non BPS Rods) there is usually a little tag on the site some where that says SHIPPING DIRECT FROM MANUFACTURER may cause delays.

A friend of mine who works for UPS told me that they have 5 tractor trailers daily filled with just rods not counting all the other stuff.

As far as I know, BPS uses Fed Ex and the Post Office. My BPS Extreme rods came Fed Ex. I believe we lost the contract some time ago. I've never delivered any BPS stuff... We still have Cabela's tho  :o

I wouldn't be too concerned if it was prescription drugs, I have 3 pharmacies within 11 minutes of my house.  :o

I'm not saying "don't shop there" or anything, I was just wondering if it was normal for them to be so slow with delivery and leaving you in limbo about order status. For most places, they can have orders filled within two day's, and then have it shipped, via ground, in 3-4 days. That's just standard retail business these day's.

theres way to many good spots to buy from on the internet and locally to throw my money to bps and cabelas anymore. cause ive always had problems with their stocking and shipping

shipping varies, but so far, i got my cranking stick in 2 days from BPS :T that's super fast
