Recently got a carrot stick and dang it is light.  I need a light reel to pair it up with, but i need one for under a 100 bucks cause im out of the funds. Any suggestions?

not sure if there are any very light in tha price range, but the SOL from daiwa is only 7.4 oz but its $230

this is probably the lightest at that price range.the nlp is also a fantastic reel.

Do anyone have a Pflueger Purist? 8 bearings 7.8 oz pretty light.  I don't want a very big reel. I wanted a Revo S but its a little on the heavy side for this rod to only be 3.2 oz

Well, that pic was taken by RedLineRobert in Brazil but butterfly's do make great subjects.  Found a batch of Monarchs in migration on my UPS route a few weeks back.

Notice,..Monarchs also match carrot sticks,lol

Pinnacle Solene  7.8 ounces, 7 bearing, and it's around $50.   Most Wal-Marts sell them, and they are excellent reels.  You usually have to get them out of the reel case.  A lot of 'Bait Snobs' don't like Wal-Mart for equipment, but these reels are 'Cherry' for the price!  Wal-Mart carries some decent reels.  They carry the ABU Garcia Revo, a few Shimano Citicas, and Pinnacle reels.

I don't reckon you can beat a Citica 100 for the dollar but for that rod you really need a 50mg.  Sometimes can be Ebayed for $150 or so.

I'm just going by what I hear locally.  I catch a lot of flack for buying stuff from Wal-Mart.  Most of the guys in my lodge only shop Gander Mountain or BPS.  They laugh at me when I say I went to Wal-Mart to pick up baits.  

Whats the difference between a Rapala from wal-mart or a Rapala from BPS? :-?. Maybe the price, in wal-marts favour that is

wow i just bought one of those reels nd didnt even know it was only 7.4oz. thats a pleasant suprise! i forgot it didnt have the HEG like its big cousin the 200 size.

To be honest i never saw a revo or a citica in walmart... :-/ and i shop there alot...they have alot of my berkley baits on sale there.

I Got the Rhino baitcaster when i first started....thing was a piece of garbage.BPS extreme reel was actually alot better to learn on.They go on sale quite often as well.

And too avoid going off topic,try saving some money and get a better lighter reel.If you are like us northerns you have all winter to save. ;D

Buying a hopped up Camero and puting the tires and wheels from your mom's sedan on it just isn't going to cut it.

Save some money and wait for the right sale is my 2 cents. Pick up a second job through a temp service for a few days, work some overtime, find some legal way to save up a little more money. Being happy with a low cost graphite framed reel may or may not happen, but there is no doubt that if you worked a little extra to get the money for a nice light weight reel, you'll look back and say it was worth it. It's all up to you though, there are some graphite framed reels that are light in weight and carry a small price tag.

Bionic plus is only 8 oz, but I don't think it would be a good fit for the rod. There is the BPS's ProLite at 7.9 oz. The pflueger Echelon at 7.8 oz, but I've heard a few sour reports on that reel though. Shimano Callisto at 7.9 oz. There are a few sub $100 reels out there that come in at 8 oz or less, but....

I would wait and get a great reel to go with the great rod when you have some extra cash. If you just go out and buy a reel that is cheap you'll be replacing it and spending more money in the long run.
