I read a topic on another forum this morning about braid wrapping on the end of a rod.  I've always had this issue and never addressed it.  What is the best way to eliminate this problem?

No I dont want to switch from braid.

Ask God to turn the wind off.

Don't run your boat.

Eliminate repetative casts.

Use lures that weigh at least 4 ounces.

Thicker line will help, too. Like 25/200.

Or...

Spool up some Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft which fishes like braid without the issues!

it happens because braid is so limp.sufix does it the least out of any braid i've used.use 12/50 or 17/65.other than that it's the nature of the beast.

Gman a fluro leader has lessened the problem for me though not eliminated it.

Heavier test line will help some. I read about it all the time, but I have not had this trouble. I only use 50lb (12 diam.) power pro. on the bait casters. I use RW's Yo Zuri U.S. #6 on my light spinning gear, maybe that's the difference.

The solution is simple.  It results after the cast because there is enough slack at the rod tip that it will wrap around the tip.

Right about the time your lure hits the water, make a slight movement of your wrist to the left or right, as long as it is away and not toward the direction of the cast. This slight movement of your wrist should be sufficient to and enough tension to your line and greatly reduce that slack around the rod's tip if it is there.  Since the line has that slack reduced, the chances of the line wrapping around the rod's tip is greatly diminished.

It does not need to be a big move of the wrist at all.

I liken it to the move I make when wielding a spinning reel after I manually close the bail. I will move the rod/reel enough to remove the slack on my side of the bail before starting the retrieve.

Doing both of these things has practically made line wrap with braid and line twist with a spinning reel a non-issue.
