My core review

Featured Replies

Well guys,  the bait monkey and I went and played with some reels.  I was checking out the core mg and the chronarch mg.

Both reels were very light

both reels were very smooth

Both reels were very comfortable

I could not tell any real differences between the two with the showcase test.

All in all I really didnt think that the core was worth 100 more.

The grading of a diamond consists of the four "Cs": Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity.

Determining $100 worth of difference is very difficult.

The criteria for a reel is different, but when choosing between high-end Shimanos, perhaps just as challenging.

When it comes to high-end Shimanos, grading consists of the four "D's": Design, Drag, Dependability, and Debt.

that should read  grading consists of the four "D's": Design, Drag, Dependability, and Delightful.

OMG ::)

Just buy the one that's prettiest.

I wish they would make an aluminum version of the Core...same color scheme and everything!  And then a 6'3" Cumara to go with it!

Should have looked closer at them, I'm not a Shimano guy, but I see the extra $100 value in the Core. The better gears and the better drag alone are almost worth the $100. Add in the fact you don't have to fully remove the side plate, the bearings are shielded, and it has a better one way roller bearing. If I was a Shimano guy, and had the coin for that much reel, I would get it over the Chronarch mg.

Kent...You crack me up. I'm going to be successful enough one of these days to send you a Steez reel, and you are going to need a trip to the shore with toilet paper. I don't even own any (my only one is on its way to Cal at TT). I'd send you one of my TD-Z's if I could afford it. I'm certainly not anti-shimano...I still want two scorpion regulars with 90mm bassart handles as cranking reels (regret selling the ones I had), but a TD-Z would get you on board with Daiwa's technology. Ceramic spool anyone?! :)
