St. Croix Legend Elites and Legend Tournament series rods. I own a LT series rod, very good quality rods.

i will more than likely get a loomis. i just wanted to get some opinions on other rods as well. i have never owned a loomis but i have heard good and bad things about them. everyone seems to have an opinion on them, they either like or dislike them. i am going to go look at BPS in indiana this weekend but i want to check out a guy here local and see what his rods are liks. he uses a all star blank and customizes to your needs. he charges around $200 and from what i have heard from a few guys they are much more comfortable and lighter than the looomis but again that is just hearsay. ill check the post for more sugestions and post back this weekend on what i decided. ;)

If I only had one rod: G.Loomis GLX MBR844C.

I have mine saddled with a Shimano CTE200GT. This is my jig rod, but it would also be my choice for soft plastics if I fished a baitcaster. For all soft plastics I prefer spinning tackle. I fish a St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Stella 2500 FB.

8-)

My pick for a Jig and Worm rod would be the Loomis BCR803GLX.  I love this rod.  It is the most sensitive and best casting rod I own.  It handles small to medium jigs easily and it cast a weightless senko a country mile.

Another rod that gets GREAT reviews from those that own them is the BCR854.

I know I "need" one!

My recommendation is the Gloomis 844 or 843 c rods.  I have both and find the 843 to be more versatile than the 844.  The 844 is very good for 1/2 oz spinnerbaits and 1/2 oz and up jigs.  The 843 handles 1/2 decently but goes down to and including 1/4 oz just fine.

This is the rod I use for my weighted platics, and I love it!

Personally, I use the Dobyns 734C. I LOVE the feel of this rod and the price fits right in your range at $249.

I have a Loomi 843c  in IMX and an Avid 7' MH, but I still think I need the Loomis BCR803 in GLX. That extra fast action is interesting. Although I've never handled one, I imaging it would be perfect for jigs and worms.
