JOHNNY MORRIS VS PFLUEGER PATRIACH

Featured Replies

WHICH WOULD YOU PICK HELP ME I MIGHT PICK THE JOHNNY MORRIS CAUSE ITS CHEAPER LOL

;D  Budaman, you are a thread makin' machine.

If they are the same reel.....10 bearings, internally adjustable centrifigal / external magetic braking system made by the same company, why would you spend $70 more? For me this is a simple question with an easier answer.  I do own a Johnny Morris reel and it is THE BOMB!

Look at the drag ratings.  According to the BPS catalog, most of the Pfluegers have 9 lb drags, whereas the Johnny Morris' have 14 lbs.   That won't mean squat for 90% of your fishing.  But a stronger drag may come in handy in some situations.

I have had nothing but great experiences with BPS> I am however a Pflueger Nut, and I have changed over to all Pflueger Products, and I am luving em~~~~~~~ 8-)

I have 2 JM signature reels and 1 JM elite reel and I'm very happy with them. I belive you should spend enough to get good equipment but not more than you need to. I would highly recommend the Johnny Morris reels.

I fished with the pflueger initially and then went to bass pro and they basically told me that they are the same reel with different armor . . .what sold me was the Johnny Morris reels have a longer warranty and were cheaper.

Honestly I believe that pflueger makes the BPS bc reels. They are almost identical to the BPS reels. Take a look one day. Go for the cheaper reel.

thx im going to get the jm this weekend unless somebody or something changes my mind by then. What does he v cut in the pflueger do.

i would go for the pfluger i've been told that BPS ownes the fishing division of browning so all the BPS reels are browning and i personally don't like browning reels , rods are good reels NFG !

PS if you go on the BPS website is says that BPS branded items will have a yellow star next to them and the browning products have that yollow star.

Most BPS reels are made by Pflueger. It is well known that BPS own Browning. It also has been documented by one of the Pfleuger Pro Staffers here that a lot of the BPS BC reels are in fact Pfluer Reels.

I have fished the Pro Qualifiers ( def Pfolueger) and the EXtremes with great satisfaction. I do own all Pfleuger reels, nothing but, Its my personal prefrence since I only use TRIONS. But to badmouth BPS reels, it has not been my experience that their products are bad, in fact just the oppisite and they serive them also.

i wasn't bad mouthing the BPS reels i was bad mouthing the browning reels,i've owned 2 of them and hated them. as far as pfluger reels go i own 3 supremes and 1 shimano sustain and i will take my 99.00 supreme over my 229.00  sustain any day of the week. and i absolutly LOVE BPS rods.

I have two Browning spinning reels, a Citori and a Medallion, both 2500 series.  They are as good as any other spinning reel I have (though not build as ruggedly as my Abu 800s).   My are the older Korean built reels.   They are very smooth reels.

Not meaning to derail the topic to a point but has anybody looked at the Patriarch and compared it to the Revo?  There are an awful lot of structural similarities.  Same thumbscrew and take down screw locations, same phillips head scres in the inner portion of the thumb bar.  Same shape of the sideplates with the same raised gearbox.

For the first time in my life Im trying to look beyond Shimano, but everything looks like its made by one maker.

Hey Muddy, have you had to get a Pflueger repaired or looked for parts?  Have you had any difficulty?

The high-end Johnny Morris and Pflueger reels are made in Korea.  They have a lot of features in common.  I suspect that there is more than just incidental similarities.  It appears to me that BPS and Pflueger both OEM out to the same Korean manufacturer.  Another webs site say for the BPS reels, that's Pinnacle, aka Silstar.  Pinnacles also have many of the same features found in BPS and Pflueger reels.   I think that is very plausible.

Abu has their Revos made in Korea, as well (Ss made in China).  I've noticed some similarities between the Revo and the Johnny Morris I have, but far fewer than between the Johnny Morris and Pflueger.

The news Pflueger Patriarch and the Revos do have some more similarities.  I haven't looke dinside a Patriach, though.  Maybe Pflueger has decided to use the same OEM manufacturer for their Patriach as Abu has for their Revos.

I have found all my Korean reels to be extrmely well made.  They want nothing compared to the Japanese Curados I owned.

No go to the PFlUEGER SITE, 800 contact # they also have their service center posted right there. You send I believe 13 bucks a reel to have them cleaned and lubed, they give you a call if they se anything that needs attention. Turn around time with me sending them and getting them back was 17 days

Hey Micro: I have a feeling that the Extremes may come from the same place Pinnacle does and the Johnny Morris and Pro Qualifiers come from the Pflueger source.
