As far as the 2500 Sahara is concerned, I would definitley recommend it. I have two mounted on St. Croix PS76MLF's. I use these rods for casting slip-bobbers to walleye. I can't even count the number of times I've been daydreaming, only to have a buddy yell 'bobber down', then I hastliy grab my rod and reel up a bunch of slack line...the Sahara has handled the slack line very well.

I've fished with these reels for a few years now and they have really stood up to my abuse, as fumbling with and banging long bobber rods around in the boat just plain happens. They also see a lot of abuse when trying to get a 7'6" rod out of my back door, and putting that long rod in the back of a buddies' truck. These reels really hold up well. A great deal for only $60. :)

I have had a Sahara 2500 for a few years now and it has been used (to put it gently :)) and it has never gave me a problem. Actually, it's been stellar. I would definitely recommend the Shimano Sahara 2500.

Good luck!

shimano stimula rod 6'6" paired with Pflueger President 6740 spinning reel... holds 6-8-10 lb. test.... very nice indeed for the price!!!!!!!! ;D

I also have a sahara but in 2000 and it feels great mounted on a st. croix premeir 6'6" ML fast rod used for walleye and bass works great together but for your price range probably can not beat that sahara with a BPS rod

Fenwick Gt (60 ) bucks or Cabelas Eagle II (80) Bucks

6'6" Med or Med Hvy

Pflueger Presidetn X6735 (60) bucks or Trion (40) bucks

What evrer you choose, and a lot of people are going to reccomend a lot of good options, go pick one up in a store and feel all the products you have interest in, thats the only way to tell for sure, and then go fish with them.

sorry to jack your thread countryboil

but I know muddy is a big Fenwick fan and was woundering if you

have heard anything about the iron hawk (Fenwick) rod could be

in the price range but cant find anything about it other that gander mnt
