Around?  +/- $20?

For $225 you can get a Loomis BCR 804 (6'8), $255 an MBR 784C (6'6).  For $200 a Shimano CUCX68MH (6'8 MH X-fast), $220 a CUCX72MH (7'2 MH X-fast).

Jmiles custom rod it is 100 bucks and kicks G.loomis shimano or any other rods BUTT.

St. Croix Avid for $160 to 200 depending on the model.

Powell 683c mh xf at $169.00.

Well, with a little patience you might be able to find a deal on a G. Loomis IMX MBR844C. The MSRP is above your pricing point, but you might find one here in our Flea Market or on e-bay. If I only had one rod, this is the one. Otherwise, I am a big fan of the St Croix Avid series. The AC70MHF might be the ticket:

Powell 703 or 704 C for $169. Awesome stick for the $$$. Super light and sensitive. Also, in the same design type (no foregrip, split handle), the Shimano Cumara's are very nice, for around $200.

If you like a more traditional design (full cork handle, no split grip) the St. Croix Avid is really nice for around $180.

At $200 price range you have a lot of good options. Pay attn to the warranty offered too.

soccplayer07,

No matter what rod brand you purchase in your price point, make sure the reel fits the system and the balance feels good in your hand......

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

Please don't be worried , I know nothing about that particular rod . Just the way you inquired about the carrot stix led me to believe that was the rod you wanted some info on. A lot of people on this forum love them but like I said earlier I have no opinion myself. Sorry if I upset you.

Save up more and get a Loomis. IMO Loomis jig/worm rods are hard to beat (and I am a huge St. Croix fan). Avids are good too for the money.

I fished a Carrot stix this weekend and didnt like it. However, some people love their carrots. Just a personal preference, but I am not a fan.

Huh, thats the first one I have heard, what didn't you like about it?

I own a couple Carrots and love them, super light, and super sensitive. And the price is hard to beat. Fish with an Avid or IMX then fish a Carrot and you would be amazed.

The rod just didnt live up to the hype IMO. Yes, it was super light weight but I didnt feel the increased sensitivity that people rave about. Granted I only spent a few hours with this rod (fishing jigs), but it is a stretch to compare it to an IMX. Of course the IMX cost $100 more too. For the money I could justify the purchase. Would I buy one over an IMX if I had a choice? No. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

Ok, to each his own, just curious.

Ok the blank is prob a loomis but the cosmetics on a john miles custom is UNBELIEVABLE

basspro96-  he lists his blanks as "im-6"-  more likely a private label since the finished rods so inexpensive.

If it is  , it is a very cheap loomis. You don't get a top notch rod built with quality components for 100.00 final cost. Sorry but that's the way it is.

i paid somwhere around 220 for my Loomis GL3 7' MH fast action rod...very light and sensitive...you can actually feel the fish fart ;D
