Just thought i would start a post for members to reccomend reels that may not recieve the attention that they deserve.

I'll go first-

Team Daiwa Tierra-strong low profile reel that is incredibly smooth, functions comparably to a reel in a much higher price range. The blue/purple coloring is also really sweet! I have one on a 6'8 powell max series and it is an absolutely awesome setup!

TICA Cetus SB500 for UL panfishing and trout fishing.   Super smooth and strong.  Light and really is an UL reel

Pflueger President baitcaster. I don't know if I would say this under-rated so much as just rarely mentioned.

Pflueger Trion baitcaster.  This is the smoothest, most bulletproof reel I have ever owned.  

I bought on last year in a 5.1:1 for use as a spinnerbait reel.  I have now put it on my new American Rodsmiths David Fritts Cranking rod.  I'm going to sell my Revo SC, which I have never liked, and buy another Trion.

I'd say the old Abu Torno's.  They were butt ugly but they fished great.  Smooth and cast great.  Still have one that I use for inshore fishing.  

Pfluger Echolon and Daiwa Viento. Noone says much about the viento but I love mine and for the price the Pfluger is pretty good.

Quantum Accurist II CX and Shimano Cruxis

Bass Pro Extreme (as smooth as any high dollar reel I have used)

Abu Garcia's NEW cardinal spinning reels(The 701 and 702 are as good as any around) Abu really stepped up their game on these!

Possibly Browning...My brother is an avid fisherman and uses shimano and browning exclusively.(All the browning are spinning reels) I never hear about them.

I've had one of these sitting on a broken rod for 2 years.  I finally got a St. Croix 7'0MH rod to put it on.  I am excited to get it wet again!

im with you on the TD 152hsta's ! I just bought my thirs one, i love em. Better than the revo premiere IMO. Between the tierra's, 153's, and fuegos, i am turning into a daiwa guy!

They hold basically the same amount of line as any other spinning reel in its class.  I know you are having problems but it just doesn't add up. Mine holds 130yds!!!!!!! Yours holds 175 :

quantum 1310, 60 dollars at walmart, my first and favorite baitcast reel.

A couple weeks ago I switched my Daiwa Exceler 2500 spinning from my backup rod to my primary.  I gained a consistent 10 to 20+ feet over my primary.  With my prior reel I could only reach a couple of distant pieces of structure, but not get past them.  Lately, I have been getting significantly past the structure (resulting in caught fish).  My prior reel was a Stradic FH 2500.

Conclusion:  Exceler & Stradic both have good line management - no twist problems this year.  But, the Exceler outcasts by a meaningful margin.  I prefer to fish with the Exceler.

Okuma spinning reels. I'd put them up agains any high priced reel any day.
