14 Lb. test Gamma Copolymer

Featured Replies

I just picked up some of this line today for when i fish with topwater frogs. i like to fish with frogs and senkos, and i was wondering if this line would do the job for both. because i only have one pole and it would be a pian switiching back and forth between lines.

thanks.

I guess it would work but braid would work alot better because of lack of stretch. The lack of stretch makes for stronger hooks which helps alot with frogs. It also has the ability to cut through heavy cover like pads and grass.  And it will also work with senkos. JMHO

You should pay attention to suggestions offered

on the Forum. #14 Gamma has NEVER been

recommended to my knowledge. However, if you

are spooling this up on a baitcaster, it will be fine.

well one guy said he used it and it was fine, so i thought i would use it too. i didnt know it was not good :( what would you reccomend that would work for both top water frogs and senkos? (using a spinner cast)

14# Gamma has a breaking strength of 23.16 pounds. I use a 7' heavy rod with 15# Yo-Zuri hybrid which has a breaking strength of 21.5 pounds and never have had a break off. You should be just fine.

I used Gamma line all of last year and never had any problems.  The only breaks I had were from poor knots.  I think you will be fine w/ Gamma but the braid probably would be a better choice for the frogs.
