Hi guys.  I just purchased a used Curado, and before I use it I'm wondering how I should get it ready.  Disassemble it? Oil it? This will be my first baitcaster.  I don't even have a rod for it.  Yet.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the tips guys.  Any idea how much a standard tune-up would cost, roughly?  And also, in reply to the last question, it is not a green curado.  This is the actual photo of it.

Given the condition in which the reel is it 's no surprise it 's not green anymore, it must have been exposed to strong sunlight for a lot of time.

It can 't be an original 200 model, all those had a flipping switch on the upper part of the reel

It obviously can 't be an A model, A models were racing red/orange with a black stripe running along the mid center of the reel

It 's obviously not a D model

It 's a regular ordinary old Curado 200B that took a tan. It 's not green, it used to be green; now,  there is another possibility, that it 's not a Curado 200B but a Curado 200BSF, BSF Curados were not the same green as their regular counterparts, but a lighter more goldish chameleon green which looked brownish under the light in certain angles, but I doubt it 's a BSF, BSF Curados had an aluminum gold anodized tension knob cap, and the one in the pic doesn 't have that aluminum knob cap.

I just seen another one on ebay just like that one but seller says it's a 100B.Is there a different color version between the 100's and 200's as far as the B version goes?

Nope, same color between the 100B and the 200B, the only one with different color was the 200BSF. The way to differentiate a 100 size with a 200 size without having them side by side is the front face of the reel, 100 size reels have a convex face ( look at the Citica 100DSV, Curado 100D and Chronarch Mg ), the 200B size reels have a concave face ( that "groove" you can appreciate surrounding the levelwind ).

The seller I bought from has a high approval rating and has been selling for almost ten years, and I used PayPal, so I'm hoping that they would protect me if I got scammed.

Not to sound like a bad person, but you can purchase a brand new 100D and 200D's for $75 at Dick's or Sports Authority.

Don't worry about the series for the reel.

All of the older 94 - 98 Curado's upgrade the same way. As a matter of fact you don't really need to upgrade anything if you know someone who can do a really good tune up.
