I'm looking to pick up another light weight reel to pair with an e21 rod. A reel that easily will hurl a 1/8th oz. bait (weightless baits, etc.). Price is an issue, so I won't be picking up another Steez, and a TD-Z may be stretching the budget. The Shimano Chronarch Mg and Revo Premier are within budget and I'd like some user comments.

My suggestion would be the Chronarch 50MG.

Everyone I know that owns this reel is very happy

with its weight, size, profile and performance.

The Chronarch mg is a great reel which has a very solid reputation. I can't say the same about the Premier it seems like Abu has had some bugs to work out.

i can speak from experience, I own both reels....Chronarch wins,  easily...Throws the lighter baits farther, weighs less and functions a lot smoother.

all I can say about revos is that I have 3 of em and just ordered on more. And also the chronarch I have 0 I hate shimanos and burley when I saw your avitar I just about p i s s e d my pants I was so scared  ;D lol

I have both (have my premier on an e21). Both are excellent reels in IMHO. The premier has magnetic brakes and the MG50 has centrifigal brakes. I think the MG50's brakes are slightly more effective. I feel like the premier may backlash slightly more easily although I think it may cast a bit further. Personally I prefer the MG50 just slightly although these are my favorite reels along with my TDZ's. This is personal and reflects just my experience and skill level. I like light reels and have only been baitcasting a couple years.

To those that replied, I want to thank you for your comments. I'm opting for the 51Mg after placing both reels on a rod. This will be my 1st Shimano baitcaster, and hope adjusting the centrifical brakes comes close to the ease of setting up my Daiwa reels.

roadwarrior - thanks for adding the Core to the list, I just wish they had a leftie version on the market.

_B_U_R_L_E_Y_ - true, but some reels do cast lighter baits than others. I've mixed and matched my reels to rods playing with different combos to learn their characteristics. An expert angler may not have any difficulty, but I'm still working my way up the learning curve.

I also have both and cast 1/8 ounce lures all day with them.  Of course you have to have the right rod also.   I prefer the Shimano though, at least until ABU works out the kinks in the premier.  Mine likes to make a sqeeching sound when you cast it.  I sent it back and got a new one which does the same thing.  It doesn't seem to affect the casting distance or performance though.  Just fricking annoying.  

In fact, I'll sell you my Premier for $150.  I'll add money to it and get another MG50.

I had both reels until a month or so ago...  for your purpose the 50MG is  the better choice, no question about it.  The MG will handle the lighter baits better than the premier, plus for those lighter baits and lighter line, the 50MG has the more appropriately sized spool.
