Trying a new jig, which of these 2 you suggest?

Featured Replies

I plan to try a new jig so I can put some use to the jigs I have and just haven't used yet. I have had luck with 3/16 - 5/16 Booyah Baby Boo jigs (black/blue) at this lake, but Im thinking of trying either a 1/4 Bleeding Bitsy Bug Jig in Black/blue w/red strands. Or a 3/8 Evolution Jig in Black/blue. My past success on the booyah was flipping it into pads or stickpiles. So which of these 2 jigs would you suggest? The Bleeding Bitsy Bug Jig, or the Evolution Jig?

If your going fun fishing and not fishing a tournament buy one of each and fish both and make a choice of the one you like the best.  If your fishing a tournament don't change what you have been fishing.  Fish what you have confidence in.

There is a lot of difference in the fall rate of a 1/4 and a 3/8 oz jig.  If you are going to compare you should buy the same size in both jigs.  Personally, I'd get 1/2 dozen of each in at least 3 different sizes and water test them.

I am doing that right now with a different hook style.  I am using 3 colors with 3 different head sizes.  So far I have eliminated 1 head size for this application.

I say do what catt says.....but i've always had success on the bitsy bug jigs

Bitsy bugs have always got the job done for me, never tried the boo jig though.

The 1/4oz bitsy bugs work for me

Fish them both, but you really need to try the Football head jig in 1/4 - 1/2 ounce.  They are the best for flipping in my opinion.

I only use two jigs with any regularity. The 1/8oz Bitsy Bug and the 3/16oz Evolution. You won't go wrong with either one.

Cheers,

GK

They are completely different jigs.

The bitsy bug is a casting jig that is alot of fun.  I have caught a mess o bass using a double tailed grub as a trailer.

the evolution jig is a bottom jig that has a broad base.  It will hold a plastic craw in the defensive posture. very cool

Get em both.

d**n, I hate being so new to bass fishing. :-[  All this time I thought Bitsy Bugs were those critters that infested the hairy areas below the belt line.  It never occured to me that you could catch bass with them.  Avid, how do you get them to stay on your hook?

Try the 5/16oz Eakins jig or see if GMAN can make you some like in his avatar.

Anything made by Jewel Jigs best jigs I've ever used IMHO
