next loomis to get?

Recommended Posts

Help! I am stressing out over this. I have several rods but I am upgrading I want 3 loomis rods. My first purchase was the shr 822s for  finesse fishing. I am going to pair it with a supreme.  I recently bought a Stx revo and I cant make up my mind as to witch loomis should be next. I am thinking cbr783 or 803 jig & worm. which rod would you suggest. The 3rd will be a heavy rated loomy for the slop.

Thanks in advance.

I put my STX on a GLX MBR844C, but you should look at the BCR854 for comparison.

Most of the Loomis guys are very impressed with the BCR series. The main difference

is an extra fast tip verses the fast tip of the MBRs.

So RW the 803 is to close in power to my 822s and I should consider a 4power for a second rod. Will the 844 and 854 handle the medium small cranks as well. I think you are following me I jsut want 3 rods to cover all applications the best possible. Just 3 loomis to cover everything what 3 would you choose?

Thanks Artic Cat Iwill keep that in mind.

Thanks

Here are my general thoughts:

http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229

Specifically:

Spinning: IMX or GLX SJR783S or 843 (finesse)

Baitcasting: IMX CRB783C or 843 (treble hooks)

IMX or GLX MBR844C or BCR854 (jigs & soft plastics)

i think you're on the right track as far as adding a cbr and an mbr/bcr.

personally, if could choose only 3, would choose 3 of the most versatile.

sjr782

cbr845

mbr844

the cbr845 will cover most topwater and cranks..you can cover a wider range of weights than the cbr783...the mbr844 will cover most blades and plastics and a wider range of weights than the bcr 803 and bcr 804...combined with the sjr782 for the smaller stuff, you can cover a lotta bases with just those three.

since you've started with the 822, a more technique specific rod, i would seriously consider adding the cbr845 and the mbr844, giving you a m, a mh and a h...imo, that would give you the most amount of bullets with the least amount of guns.

then, i would save up my money and get the bcr803.     :)

check out this review... im sure the BCR854 is just as good.

i personally wouldnt buy a loomis for cranks. i dont think you need IMX/GLX sensitivity for cranks.

you have finesse covered so id get:

MH XF/F IMX/GLX spinning for plastics (sjr783,bsr803)

MH F/XF IMX/GLX casting for 1/4-1/2oz jigs & plastics, light spinnerbaits (BCR803,MBR783c,MBR843c)

H F IMX/GLX casting for heavy jigs & plastics, spinnerbaits (MBR844c)

803 is a good stick. Keep in mind that the BCR series will fish about 1/2 power stiffer than the equivalent in the MBR series. I have the MBR 843, 844 and the BCR853. It definitely has the faster tip.

On the CBR's I had an 853 and swapped it for the 855. The 853 seems a little soft but LOVE the 855 for throwing any crank from 1/4 to 5/8 oz.

Here is my two cents. I would pick up a BCR854 for worms/jigs. If you want a Loomis rod for cranking go with the 845. Everyone seems to love this rod. I own several Loomis rods, but I do all of my cranking with Powell or Lamiglas rods. I just prefer fiberglass to graphite.

So,you already got shr 822s. In my opinion you should add MBR844/BCR855 and CBR845.Just my 2 cents.Adam

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to get the mbr 844c IMX for my 2nd loomis. I just got back from the Sportsman WH and checked them all out again.  I do have a Med Action Premier right now ( but it is only a 6ftr ) I will use untill I can fit something better in.

Thanks all  :)
