Soft Plastics Rod?

Featured Replies

Hey guys im looking into buying a new soft plastics rods to go along with a shimano saros spinning reel. I want to buy as sensative a rod as possible for under $170 dollars. This rod will have to be able to handle t-rigs and wacky style senkos. Thanks for your imput.

I have a couple crucials and for the money they are very sensitive.  In that price range think the St. Croix avids are the way to go I have 2 and they are sweet (in the $150-$190 range).

if I opened the price range to 200 what else do you guys recomend

At $200 you could get into a cumara which I would say is a step up from the avid, but other than that you really have to go to the $250 range before you get to the next level....Loomis IMX, Legend Tournament.

The next level is G.Loomis IMX SJR843S

I own this rod with a Daiwa Sol 2500, very sweet set up but I think these rods have gone up to around $260.00 now.  I got mine for $245 or a few years ago.  I just saw one at Cabela's marked @ $275

In that price range get a Powell.

id also suggest sjr843s or sjr783s IMX. if you look around you should be able to find them for close to $200.

Team Daiwa® Pro Series Bass Spinning Rods...these are the stuff for the things u want in a rod!!!!!!

Has anyone used or know someone who uses a kistler helium and how does it preform?

I have both St Croix Avid and Powell. Powell is nice but for $20 or$30 more you can get the Avid .  My choice Avid ! 8-)

If you are going to get a Helium for plastics, I'd recommend getting a MH.  The medium LTA's are a bit too moderate for a dedicated soft-plastics rod.

Shimano Crucial CRC-X610MH

Length: 6' 10

Line: 10-20 lb

Lure: 3/8-3/4

Power: Medium Heavy

Action: Extra Fast

Never worry about trading up again  :D
