  1. I use the $ 1.25 s/baits fishing for pike from the shore. Usually loose 4 or 5 a day throwing into weeds/rocks. I like to bump them slowly on the bottom. I free a heck of a lot of them walking from left or right down shore but some flat don't come loose. Will use some of my medium priced spinnerbaits when fishing in the boat.
  2. I have a Powell 703 mef rated 1/8 to 1/2. Also have a Avid 7' mlf. Use the Avid mainly for drop shot and 1/4 and less on t rig plastics. Super sensitive. Powell is more versitle senkos flukes t rigs shaky heads and good on c rigs. Powell nice rod with Dobyns being slightly less tip heavy. Powell rated xf tip and Dobyns fast tip. Never used the Dobyns but to me in the store it seemed the Dobyns tip faster. I would take a close look at an Avid AVS 70mf or the LTBS70mf
  3. :-/ Good producers for me are the trick worm brush hog and the Mag II black/red worm.
  4. I compared this rod to the Gloomis IMX 843. Yes if you hold both rods up at the same degree the LTB tip drops about 5 or 6 inches. That being said they are both light as can be and for me they both feel very balanced. I really liked the feel of the tip and flex of the LTB. Could you expand on what applications your using this rod for and how it handles these applications. If im correct your rod is the LTB Teasor right ?
  5. I have the StCroix Avid 7 spin MLF . Very nice and sensitive set up on either the 1000 or 2500 Shimano reels. I use it for drop shot and small finesse baits weights 1/4 and less. T rig light worms baby craws with light sharp hooks 6# test line. Excellent trout rod set up.
  6. slow roll spinnerbait. Cast it let it drop to desired depth. Start reeling just barely to get the blades moving thump thump thump bumping bottom structure and tipping grass.
  7. Shore fishing I use my 7' med/fast spin most of the time. I always start with plastic t rig 6" worms. like to work an area slow. I fan cast out usually working further distances out first. If I see bass chasing shad of course I throw past and into the shad. I like gravel surfaces and dont spend much time on silt surfaces. I will also make casts parallel in the same area. If theres some pretty good ripple on the water I will pick up my baitcaster and if wind is blowing out Ill try spinner baits. If Im fishin solo Ill stay in one area more. If with my wife and shes guardin my poles Ill tend to walk further down the shore working a spinnerbait/wormor whatever. Sometimes if its slow Ill just throw a drop shot rig out there and sit back and have a cold one. For me to anwser you I go with t rigs first. Probably just a confidence thing. Cant tell u how many times when I first get to a spot on first cast or two 8-) things heat up and I feel like its going to be a good day . My main thing working the shore is to work slow and be patient. I have one area I work from shore and in 4/5 hrs catch several bass but when I fish thru that area with my boat pick up few fish. 8-)
  8. This young man and family is in my prayers.
  9. my set up/applications. Powell 7'mh/xf/revo stx 30# power pro braid w/ 8# Seaguar inviz leader for T rigs jigs C rigs. Powell ml/f /symetre 2500 15# power pro with 6# leader. Lighter jigs t rigs c rigs shaky heads 8-)
  10. braid very visible on the surface for line watching. Braid floats more on top with a slower sink rate. Braid much more sensitive and with no stretch you need to set your drag in accord. In semi stained water Im using fluro invisible leader with braid at least 8' for me . 8-)
  11. good luck from shore both in clear and semi stained water. robo worms and Jr flukes have worked for me. I was surprised at the lifelike action of the fluke on a ds when I tested it in clear water. 7'm/l Avid spin set up and with some wind you can really get good distance out from the shore if thats what you want then work it closer in 8-)
  12. Throw some lip less cranks like a r trap for starters. You can work them shallow or deep and you can throw um a mile. Same with spinnerbaits. Same with spinnerbaits. Very versitle shallow or deep 8-)

MM III T rig it 8-). Very good in stained water.
  14. Very interesting thread. Reallly surprised at how quickly a bass would restrike after being handled and released. Since they apparently often seem insensitive to what we would think would be their trauma it makes me wonder if they would even at the slightest be affected by the visibility of a line in the water. Guess thats another debate but thats what popped into my mind. 8-)
  15. like that advice so could tie your leader on at a point about 1 ft up from the reel guide and that would give you about a good 10 ' of leader .
  16. Only have one baitcasting rod for jig and t rig. A Powell 703 STX Revo. Use 30# Power Pro braid and 12# Seaguar invz leader. Lighter jig t rig use Spin 20# braid 6# fluro clear Avid/Symetre. Fish clear and stained water. uni uni knot/glue 8-)
  17. Casting/senkos/stx revo Powell 703 mh/xf #2 gamy hook 30#power pro braid 8#Sequar invis leader. Spin/lite plastics Powell 6'8" ml/xf symetre 2500 fluro clear 8-)
  18. bright and flashy for stained 8-) water and something fish isnt used to seeing imo
  19. I gotta believe bass see braid if they can see as good as a minnow. I mean Ive fished off a dock where I can see down in 3 or 4' of water and watched minnows several feet from the line head for the line and bump it. Line doesnt seem to scare off a minnow. Ive often wondered even if the bass sees the line if it distracts him from hitting a bait. Guess it could if hes just suspended there deciding if he wants to bite. One has to wonder if the bass attention really wouldnt be more focused on the bait.. Hard to figure. IMO for trout line visibility is a big deal. Many times I use 2# leader with power bait catchin fish cast after cast and guy next to me using 8 or 10# and never catches fish. And its not that im in a better location cuz when im rebaiting up the guy will steal my spot and still not catch them. 8-)
  20. I have Powell and Avid. My choice spend alittle more for a 7'm/f Avid 8-)
  21. I have 5 setups. the wife gets a couple of them when we fish together. Two spins finese lite 3 baitcasters cranks jigs T rigs C rigs top water 8-)
  22. Great thread question. 50 yrs owned and used the same two rods one 6' fiberglass spin very wispy tip and one bait cast Quantim.Have gone thru a number of Shimano Spin reels over the yrs. Caught tons of fish with this out of a 12' Sea Nymph and off the bank. Never thought twice about if I needed other set ups for different techniques etc. Retired got the bass boat fishin more and now have two Revo STX two Shimano Symetres a Gloomis,Avid Shimano Crucial crank rod and two Powells. I selected my tackle based on whichever brand I thought would suit my applications . If I needed another all purpose reel Id go with Revo solely because I like them . Thikin maybe getting a Shimano Curado E5 for Crucial crank rod. Reason cuz of the gear ratio and just feels balanced on the rod so not adverse to changing brands. :-?
  23. Since Ive never owed a Curado cant give you more advice. The Beast rates STX/Curado pretty equal. All I can tell you is I really like my two STX. I throw a lot of r traps 1/4 and 1/2 on a 6'6'' Gloomis IMX 782 m/f. Being traps they go a mile. I have my other Revo on a Powell MAX 703 mh/xf. I just picked up a Shimano Crucial 7' m/mf crankin rod. For me I will either get the Curado E 5 for crankin or get another STX 6.1 . That should cover my needs but your apllication to burn baits might move you to getting the 7.1. I note theres a $20 rebate on the Revos going on. :-X 8-)
  24. I did ok with Yum craw bug last spring fished on 3/16 oz t rig not pegged. Never used them for trailers. Worked um slow. Watermelon red flake and watermelon seed. M/L F Avid spin 6# 8-)
