  1. I just got a pac green pumpkin and used them a few times. I noted they seem pretty solid in feel but when I checked them in clear water I was surprised how they glided and floated. Looked great and I think they will do great as soon as I get some confidence in them. Im thinking go to bait on a C rig or try it on about 1/16 oz jig head. Got interested in the brush hog after good sucess with their trick worm 8-)
  2. Mine are magnetic. I like being able to quickly dial them in with the outside adjustment. I rarely however have to do this. Just make sure my spool tension is correct. If I really liked a real for other reasons I wouldnt let the centrifigal feature keep me from buying it. Have Revo STXs and no over run issues. Really like them.Would like to try a Curado but they dont have it in 6.1 ratio 8-)
  3. Terrible Cant figure out why no one likes the green. I really do . Even bought green hats to match 8-)
  4. Txs Franco. Appears by his thread STX vs Curado E he alreaady has the D series and is looking for their comparisons and how they compare to the reels he already has.
  5. Are you looking to get a Curado E5 or E7. In making the comparison between the STX and the Curados hopefully some will address if their are differences in casting distances between a E5 and E7 or if this is a nonfactor and how these differences compare to the STX. I have two STX but was thinking Curado E5 for cranking and have same questions about the comparisons as you do overall performance
  6. I was thinkin about your design. You know what you might try just to see how the bait sinks with more weight in the middle would be to take two tube baits and shorten them leaving the skirts in place. Then slip the tubes over the senko leaving the skirts dangling at ea end then shorten the skirts or length of the tubes until you get the effect you want. I once slipped a short tube over the front end of a trickworm and fished it on a shakyhead jig. Didnt really fish it enough to see how it would do but my thinking was it would at least be something different :-?
  7. Yep I have 7or8 of those Renegade cranks I picked up for $ 1.50. I got them with the silver body black top purple on the head. Im new to crankin except with r traps so I bought these figurin Ill throw them more into cover without worring about losin um . T Threw a few of them for practice in clear water to see how they worked. Man they seemed to run true and it was a blast kickum off rocks/looked awesome and cast great. Cant wait to try um and see how they do compared to the standards. Wonder how they would do on a topwater bite since they float right up and just pop them with that squared bill. Squared head looks like a little frog. 8-)
  8. I have both St Croix Avid and Powell. Powell is nice but for $20 or$30 more you can get the Avid . My choice Avid ! 8-)
  9. How does visibility of this line compare to mono or flurocarbon. I note in their website they mention strength/low memory. Assume line diameter comparable to mono ? :-?
  10. If you want a larger body and flapin stuff in the middle and a tail wag might try wraping a baby yum craw around a senko and let it sink and see what happens. Who know your idea might work. On paper it looks more like a float but dang you might have something . Give it a go and let us know how you do. Good luck. :-/
  11. 12' telescope pole also handy to retrieve lures you get hung up on the bank 8-)
  12. Have always used low vis Berkley green in both stained and clear water with no issues that I know of. Fish might know different but I cant tell it. Also use moss green in Power Pro Braid with leader 8-)
  13. I have both the Spirex and the Symetre. I upgraded from the Spirex to the Symetre. For me its taken me a little bit to get used to reverse stop on the Symetre and now that I have I like it. Feels a little smoother to me than the Spirex. I have used Spirex for years and they have done me good. Still use both models for bass and the Spirex only for trout as its a 1000 series v 2500 Symetre series :-/ :-/
  14. I fish mine on a 703 Powell MH/EF on a baitcaster. If I was to go with a spinning rod Id go with a StCroix 7' Avid MF. Thats what my Bro has on the boat and I have one in a ML and they are great. My favorites. I also own a Gloomis rod and Shimano Crucial which I really like but Id get the Avid. 8-) :
  15. Have two Symetres on ML 7'Avid rod and 6'8" Powell. Always used 6# or 8# Berkley XL mono. Just switched over recently and have one spooled with 20# Power Pro braid with 8# Seaguar inviz fluro leader. Sweet really sensitive on my Powell. Have the other one spooled right now with PLine fluro clear for drop shot. 8-)
  16. Very satisfied with the Shimano Symetre 2500RI . Have two. Also have a couple of Shimano Spirex RE1000 for trout. The Symetre to me is smoother. 8-)
  17. Powell 703C MH/XF matched with my STX Revo I think is great setup and youll like the price well under $ 200. Use mine for T rigs Senkos C rigs Flukes jigs 8-)
  18. Cabelas has nice nylon rod covers with hook guards and a rigid poly tube at the base to protect lures and hooks from tangling. They also have a shock slip cord which easily adjusts to hold the nylon cover secure on the rod. I secure my rods in the boat with a bunje cord slipped over the rods with the bunje attached to my boat anchor. Also keep a couple of rods in the side boat compartment with these rods protected with the nylon covers. Price $ 6.99 ea. I think their super. Easy/quick to use and to slip on and off. I
  19. Yeh I like the green. I match it up with a green hat and green socks 8-)
  20. why is a xf action rod being discribed as having a softer tip than say a fast or moderate fast action rod. I have both rods and the tip on the xf to me seems more rigid and not softer than the fast action. I have never understood this but often see it discribed this way. To me the fast action has more give overall which to me seems like a softer tip. :-?
  21. I have the Powell 703CEF 7' MH/EF .Super lite and sensitive. Use it with a low profile Revo STX and it feels great and fun to fish with. Use it for Senkos mid size jigs T rigs. My other set up is a 6'6" Gloomis rod med power/fast tip. i use this for the lighter same stuff plus small traps/cranks spinnerbaits. Ive thrown cranks and larger spinners off the Powell and it loads up and handles all well . Powell also of course has them in the med/power range if that might suit you better. I also have a Powell 6'8' spinning rod for other applications which Ive been very satisfied with. 8-) 8-)
  22. I would go to the ***.com website. I always research that web. They list the manufactures and just click in what your looking for. If its a spinning rod click spinning rods. Theb click the mfg and they will list rods at price ranges your looking at and the applications of the rod. I cant suggest a rod cuz I generally buy rods in a price range beginning at $120. once you get an idea of what you want go check um out. For me half the fun of bass fishing is checkin out the equipment. 8-)
  23. Been reading a p :-?ost on how to reverse the back line to the front on a reel. How is the memory on the back line when you do this and what do you do to correct it.
  24. Starr see the board topic currently being displayed Best value reels. Lots of posts on that to get you going in the right direction. I like the Shimano Symetre 8-)
