REVO STX PROBLEM

Featured Replies

Bought a new Revo STX a few weeks ago, caught maybe 150 bass on it now has problems. Casts fine but during retrieval feels like bearings are grinding. Has anyone else had this issue?

you try to oil and lube it?whatever you do DONT attempt to take that reel apart and explore i tried that and its complicated in that thing and im quite mechanicaly inclined.but it sounds like it could be a lil dirty i mean that many fish and hours and if you didt clena and lube it then thats probably what it is,clean it and squirt some quantum hotsaue in that thing and see how it works then if its still got a grinding noise time ti take apart if your brave enough or send it in.i have the revo sx and never had a single problem, but good luck.

If it's only a few weeks old and has a grinding feel or sound, then you should contact abu for warranty repairs. I have had mine for 3 years. They have been cleaned and lubed yearly and have caught hundreds of fish. They are as good as new and don't make any noises. The only time I had a problem was when I layed them in the back of the truck during a thunderstorm. The rain splater caused some dirt and grit from the truck bed to splash all over the reels. They were a little rough and made some grinding noises that day but were fine after they were cleaned and re-lubed.

benlee1,

Whatever you do "DO NOT" put anything in the reel (especially Hot Sauce). Pick up your phone tomorrow and call a warranty center and get the info on having it serviced under warranty..

Again DON'T DO ANYTHING to the reel.....

+100 on returning it.  Abu will probably send you a brand new reel.

I'm sure Abu Garcia will send you a new reel,  but if you bought

it locally at a brick and mortar store, they will probably swap it

out over the counter.

I would like to thank eveyone that rewsponded. Took it back where I bought it and after a few cranks of the handle they appologized. They told me not to worry, they will deal with it and gave me a new reel then switched the line for me. The tackle shop I deal with is Betts Fishing Center, Largo Fl. Again, thank you fellas.
