p.s.

If you can be patient, keep an eye on our Flea Market.

Over the past several months I have purchased a BCR854,

MBR842C and PR844C from members for around $250.

All three of the rods are the GLX version.

Falcon Cara Reaction Mike McClelland Signature, CCB6-174HC.

Designed from the ground up as a jig rod. For what you'll pay for a GLX Loomis you can buy the Falcon and put a Curado E7 on it!!

Depending on the size of jigs you throw most often, and the cover you fish, the BCR 803 GLX is hands down the best 3/8 oz. jig rod I've ever used.  It will handle 1/2 oz. as well, but it's perfect for 3/8oz.  If you like a little longer rod, the 853 also has an extra fast action and performs very similarly.  You can find them used for less than $300 and they still carry the lifetime warranty.

Hi NJ -

That's a GREAT price on a GREAT rod... over 5/8 oz is pushing it for me with that rod.  If you're looking for something to handle 3/4 oz. jigs, the 854 or 855 are going to be a better bet.  3/8 to 1/2 is "in the zone" for the 853 though...

ive never thrown anything heavier then 1/2oz jig but i do use chigger craws as my trailers and im assuming it pushes the weight pretty close to that...think ill be alright?

It will definitely be fine if you used a 1/2oz jig and some trailer.  I would jump on that thing right away.  You will not find a better rod in my opinion for dedicated jigs and weighted plastics.

Really depends what weight jigs you're throwing, and where you're throwing them.

Also depends on what length rod you like.

Phenomenal rods, the new models are SICK. Check ***.

I would add the 704 as well. I know you prefer longer rods brokeju, but I have fallen in love with this rod.

I'm glad you liked it,  everyone has different preferences with their rods when it comes to length, which is one major reason I love these rods.

a awesome rod for 200 dollars is a Daiwa Zillion rod.. a really awesome flipping stick is TDZL761HFB to tell the truth I like it better then me compile-X Steez flipping stick. very very light and sensitive rod with a life time warranty and the most comfortable reel seat ever made! dont get me wrong Loomis=Great rods and the IMX and GLX's are wonderful rods. I just need JDM rods to be happy! the Zillion gives you all the feel and looks of a super high end JDM stick at 1/3-1/2 the price! the Zillion rods cant replace my evergreen and Megabass sticks but they sure do make it hard to open the wallet to buy them now days! Go check one out and I bet you will agree they are amazing rods and the price makes them that much sweeter!

I use one of my Zillion flipping sticks as a light swim bait rod as well and it does the job well.

If you want to go Loomis BCFR954 I have one that I just put on Ebay about 2 hours ago. I could do a buy it now for you. its mint condition in fact the cork is so clean you cant even tell its been used.
