Help me pick a new bait caster

Featured Replies

I have 3 Citica 200D, 1 Citica 200DPV, 1 Citica 200E, 1 BP Extreme, Have had CU200 Curados, Daiwa Exceler, Pinnacle Platinum Plus.

Looking to purchase a new bait caster and I sort of have an itch for something different. I'm leaning toward another 200E but would like to try the Revo or the Pfluegers as well, the Revo being my second choice. Not interested in any other Revo except the S though due to the cost comparison to the other reels listed.

I would like some honest opinions from real users. Thanks in advance guys.

You cant beat a revo s .And they can be found on ebay for 70 to 80 bucks all day

im a shimano guy,i guess.but i did own a revo s for a year.it will cast with the best of them.a ton of power too.just it didnt fit in,and my friend really like it.so i did the right thing and kept the peace on the rod rack.

the citica would work great too.i have never tried this one though.try both and see what fits your hands best.

the pflueger trion is a great reel for 100$ but for 50 more $ the president sure is awesome too. then again im a pflueger guy

I'm betting the new Revo S is going to be one spectacular reel.

You've already got a bunch of $100-level reels, why not save up a little more and pick up something in the $150-200 range?

well..the brand new revos coming out are ugly as sin...as for pfluegre...those and abu garcia are hand in hand now.dont remember who bought who but both abu and pflueger are made from the same company now.i love my citica 200e and 08 model revo sx's.but i have heard positive things about the new pflueger presidents and have only handled one in store(not fished) it feels solid and smooth,if i had the need for one i would def. buy one of those but my next reel is going to be the pflueger patriarch that thing is amazingly smooth and a dream reel imo.

I vote revo s. I've had it for 2 years now and its fantastic for what im using it for. It"ll hold up no problem.

Love the revo s

I have a couple Revo S reels, if that's the latest President by Pflueger the centrifugal braking system is better than what's on the S.  Better made anyway.

Gave in to my curiosity and ordered an '09 Revo S.

If I had to pick one I would choose neither:

Team Diawa Pro High speed model

I love that reel, it is great for the $. I am more partial to the SX's, but still use the S for alot of apps.

Well, I just recently acquired a new Curado 200E. I consider

this comparable to much more expensive Shimano reels. You

have a number of nice reels, why not save some money and

get a Curado when you can?

p.s. If you shop around or keep an eye on our Flea Market,

you can probably pick up a NIB Curado for around $150.

Last I checked http://www.baitnhook.net/ had them for $159.

Got mine on ebay for $140 shipped and my citica E'S for $80 shipped

Curado E for 150 is a KILLER deal

Uhhh.....ok, I will. In the meantime I'll enjoy the five Citicas that I already have and the new Revo that I'll be getting. Curado E's are next on the list. Would you suggest a 5:1 or 7:1?

Unless you are dedicating the reel to deep diving crankbaits,

I think the 7:1 is a much better choice.

I agree and  I think the 7:1 is actually ok for cranks.  I've used mine for deep diving cranks from the shoreline in 10ft deepish water.  I guess if I was on a boat and in really deep water the 5:1 would be better but I agree with RW the 7:1 is a really well rounded ratio.

How are they ugly as sin?  The only one i thought didnt look good was the orra SX.  All the revos dont look that much different.  The STX still looks good as hell
