what rod do u guys use when cranking?

what does that rod cost? and is it worth what u paid?

I am currently using a BPS Extreme 6'6" medium baitcasting rod. I prefer the extra feel that I get from the graphite as opposed to the fiberglass rods.  Seeing as I use no more than 12lb test mono in most cranking situations, I am not worried about ripping the hooks out of thier lips. The mono has enough strecth to help make up for the graphite as long as I don't try to horse one too hard. Just have to remember to feel the fish before you set the hook when fishing either close to the top in clear water, or fishing topwater.

Cost was 99 bucks. For the money I have been pleased so far. The tip is a little heavy. (I think this is a marketing ploy so that you have to buy thier balancing kit) Other than that I don't have any complaints.

I use a Bass Pro Shops Crankin Stick in the 7' model. The cost is around $50. It gets the job done, but I am hoping to try a helium rod for cranking.

I use the Pflueger Trion 6'6" Medium action rods and more recently the All Star Titanium Series 6'6" Medium action rods for Cranking. If I recall the Pflueger rods retail for about $70-$80 and the All Star rods are $199.95 and yes they are worth every cent that they cost me.

Lamiglas SR 705 R is an excellent rod at a reasonable price. Perfect for big cranks and big top water lures. $210 list, available for around $160. New Skeet Reese Series ('04), built to last a lifetime.

I could never get into the "return to fiberglass movement." I lose too much feel with them. Anyway, I stick to a 6.6 or 7 medium action graphite rod for cranks and spinnerbaits unless I go shorter around docks. I use Falcons mostly, but lots of brands are pretty good.

I use an All-Star titanium graphite rod in the 7 foot medium action fast tip for my cranking rod, I would not put this rod to the max limits.  As I would a Lamiglas rod.

A few years ago, I built a Lamiglas worm Rod for a friend, it was a pro graphite rod.

He took this rod out, saltwater fishing and had hooked 300 pound hammerhead shark and brought aboard his boat.

The freshwater rods were not intended for saltwater duty, but that gives you some idea of their durability.

I use a Lews Crankin Stick 6'6 medium. This rod has been threw the wars since the early 90's I even broke the tip off and had a splice put in it. This rod is fiberglass and is extremely soft. I love it I might get hung up a little bit more cause of the feel. But I feel this rod has helped me land alot more fish. I fish a crankbait 50 % of the time when im lake fishing.

If any one knows where I can get one of these let me know. I havent seen one in a long time and i need a new one or three

The closest thing i have found to a Lews cranking stick would be a American RodSmith David Fritts Cranking Series. It is also fiberglass.

E Bay has Lew's rods on there pretty often.  Keep looking!

Shallow-Medium/Jerkbaits: 6'10''MH Carrot Stix Gold $200....bought on ebay for $130...worth every penny...after using it for so long I would pay retail for another if I needed it, it matches perfectly with my Sol and techniques that it is used for.

Medium-Deep: 7'MH Lucky Craft BDS Cranking Rod $150..yes, actually surprised they are that cheap, a $200 rod at least

i assume the OP has gotten a rod already and has used it quite a bit.

I use Loomis crankbait rods - there's one for more or less every cranking situation.  I think they're definitely worth their price in terms of performance, longevity, warranty, and customer service.
