chronarch vs revo premier

Recommended Posts

I am going to buy a new reel and I am not sure if I should get the new chronarch or the new revo premier. I have not had the opportunity to handle any of them. Which should I buy? I am open to other suggestions.

Well,  i dont have either one...The only thing i can offer is that I have the previous versions and if i had to choose between those two i would go with the Chronarch   ;D    Its such a great reel and handles small baits with ease

So for me personally I would choose the new Chronarch

I have a Chronarch D7 and an older Premier. I can not speak for the new Premeir. The Chronarch is much better if you have large hands. The Premeir is lost in mine. I do prefer the brake system on the Chronarch over the Premeir  but of course this is the same for me on all Shimano reels. If you are looking for lightness and a smaller profile reel the Abu is what you may be looking for. Myself I prefer the Chronarch D over the older Premeir. I have not looked at the new version so I suggest you try to find someone that has both so you are compare.

I have an older Metanium and domestic Chronarch.

They are both great reels. However, the new Curado

CU200E7 is a fantastic reel and would be my

recommendation.

8-)

I don't have big hands, yet I love my Chronarch..I have the bvp, the bad thing is it's a 5:1 ratio.. but good for throwing swimbaits, and slowrolling other baits.. :)

Since you asked about two SPECIFIC reels, I will give you a response about the one of those reels that I have used, just to give you at least SOME perspective about it.

I own a Revo Premier (last year's version) and a Revo STX. I prefer my Premier to my STX greatly. Some people say they are the same in performance, others say the Premier is less smooth. I disagree. I find my Premier to be great at casting (especially baits in the 3/8-3/4oz range) and extremely smooth and light. I would not hesitate to buy another, especially when you can get the older version at such a great discount now.

I have to agree with Dan.  I have both STX and Premier reels and just love the Premieres (even though the STX's are great too).

I like my STX, but it has some anti-reverse issues that are probably the result of me being VERY, VERY rough on it (it is my slop/frog reel) so I don't necessarily fault it. At the current prices, I don't think there is even a choice between the STX and the Premier for me (unless you need a high gear ratio). The Premier is light, smooth, easy to use, and now last years versions are also very affordable.

Go handle and mess with both or you might regret it. You will most likely go with the Abu though.

Do you prefer magnetic breaks or centrifugal? I prefer the later and that's why I ended up with a Chronarch D. If you buy the 2010 premier then I guess it doesn't matter because of the dual breaking.

I haven't used a new Premier, but I use the Chronarch D's regularly.  It's a great reel - very palmable, very smooth, and gives me a very connected feel when using it.  I actually like this reel much better than the Core 100 series even though they're based on the same frame design.  Good luck!
