I am an avid user of Yo-zuri Hybrid line.  I typically use clear all the time, I have found a good deal on green line and purchased one spool, but I would really like to load up as these spools are 1000 yds for 14 bucks!  What conditions are perfect for the use of green line? BTW I typically fish crystal clear rivers, and slightly stained lakes.  Thanks

diameters, matches up almost perfectly in gin

clear water. You cannot see #4 and barely see

#6. Even #12 is VERY stealthy!

In stained water, which is what I mostly fish,

smoke or purple smoke is what I recommend.

In stained water, any size is virtually invisible.

Some of the lakes I fish are crystal clear, the only line color I avoid when fishing them is fluorescent specially on sunny days because it glows and makes the line look as thick as a rope.

thanks fellas, I haven't never really given it any thought before.  Then again I always fished straight mono, the cheaper the better before joining this site.  I am not complaining as I have lost only one big fish since changing line, and that was my fault.  I do fish for smallies most of the time, I think they are more line shy than other species, as far as line goes I think of them as trout, lure selection like bass.  Love those bronze fish

trust me when i tell ya... my "home" water is wakulla river here in fla. and it is gin clear. even clearer. and i fished big game green mono for years on it and then yo zuri green. hell for a while there i was even using the cajun thunder red. i never saw a difference in the bites. i agree that the only time that ive seen a difference really was in brite green (big game) flourecent line in clear water.  other thatn that i think its a very minute detail. even though i cant bring myself to do it.. i know guys that throw everything on green powerpro braid and get bit constantly. id buy the whole lot of the yo zuri green at that price if you would kindly post the site address

Both spools were junk. Lots of spool memory, they broke easy, and the knot strength was terrible. I now have 6000yds of backing.

I know Kent got some bad YZ last year; bulk spools on clearance. He broke off several fish during our White River trip using that on-sale line.

Line is the cheapest part of your rig. Why try to save a few bucks buying clearance line? You have no idea how, or in what conditions, it's been stored.

You know I had not even thought of that!!!  I'm gonna check the 12lb stuff soon to see. 

As far as where to buy it cheap like this, it is Ebay.

1000 yds for 14.00 is Cheap..I pay that for 600 yds..I assume your buying the ultrasoft..?

Was this the YZ that was on sale at Cabela's last January?  I bought several spools but haven't opened them yet.

No.

BPS (online only) had 1/8 lb spools on

clearnece for $4.98 and 1/4 lb spools for

$5.98 or something close. I bought a

couple of spools of #6 and #12 which

has worked out just fine, but I also threw

away two spools of #4.

In the future, I'm not willing to gamble

with line dependability. It's not worth it

to me.

as these fine folks have stated the fish probably don't care.If however you do care.(assuming the line is still quality)just keep a small spool of your favorite flouro.and tie it as a leader to the green stuff.I prefer to do this if I'm fishing for ex.a finesse worm in clear water

I like to use braid with flouro.so i get clarity of the line near the hook but zero stretch.May not be necessary but it gives me confidence.And if the fish don't care even better.
