Recommendations for attractant that will lube up a swimbait?

Featured Replies

Looking for an oily attractant. Still have never used attractant, but have had much success without... But whatever if it helps on setting the hook I'll buy it. Let me know your favorites.

Megastrike.  I use this personally, and from what I've heard, pretty much everyone uses it.  I believe Megastrike is what Matt from Mattlures suggests.

MegaStrike, which is also a BassResource.com sponsor!

This product is user friendly, comes in a tube and has the consistancy of Vasoline. One tube will last for a season or more and stays on the bait for all of an outing. In addition to swimbaits, this is the best lubricant for all soft plastics.

i agree with rw and senko megastrike is the way to go. megastrike is more like a paste than a oil. when other more oily attractants hit the water it all comes off the bait.

Most of the time I do not use any. But when I do, it is either Pro-Cure or megastrike.

d**n, I'm getting slow... :)

i use  mega strike .... i like the way it seems to stay on the bait for a while .....  then again i really grease that puppy up .....

Matt's recommending megastrike on his page.

From a strictly lubrication standpoint, vaseline or other brand of petroleum jelly will work well.  It's also tasteless and odorless.  It eats latex, but we aren't talking bout that...

You can make your own scent creation with vaseline too.  Just be sure to use a lot of salt if you are putting craw or fish juice/parts in it.  The salt will keep it from going rancid.

happy cooking

edit: I don't know if the KY was serious, but it's water based
