New Lineup of Dobyns Rods

Gary has come out with a new lineup of rods called the Savvy Series. 4 Spinning and 9 Bait Casting rods. Retailing for $149.99 to $169.99.

They will be out later this month. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who may be looking for a very solid rod in the $150 price range and has been wanting to get their hands on a Dobyns rod.

will there be a punch rod similar to the one you pimped out to me? or any other 7'10" and up heavy action?

I just picked up a champion series rod. how do you tell if it is 2nd generation? I got it from tackle warehouse.

If I recall right all of the Dobyns rods currently on the TW website are G2. They had some G1's on there a while ago, but have since sold out or stopped selling them.

Also the easy way to tell is if the Dobyns logo on the rod has an oval around it then it is a G1. Gary has taken the oval off of the new rods, which I think makes them look a lot better.

No, the biggest rod they will have is the 766, the rod you got is exactly what is needed to get the job done that we talked about.

The G1 rods have a carbon fiber type look where the logo is above the reel seat. The G2 rods do not. *** has only the newer G2 rods , as do most places.

Just saw the tackle tour preview and got really excited.  I have a Gen1 Mike Long Swimbait rod and love it.  Would definitely like to get my hands on one.

I have a Champion 683C which is a very nice rod.

However, I'm just not a fan of the split grip. If

that's what you like, you will like Dobyns Rods.

8-)

I can't wait to here a review on these rods.  I might have to get one of these to pair with my citica.

They should be in stores and online stores by the end of this month.

Search youtube there is a video of one .

If these balance like the champs I gotta think they will hurt powells sales. I wonder if that's what Gary is thinking with this lineup. I think the 735 is gonna be a big hit for the savvy series.

Hey brokeju, have you held one yet? If so what was the balance like?

I haven't personally held one yet. But I have spoken to Gary about them and if you know what kind of guy he is, he wants perfection. He designed these rods to be the absolute best mid $100 rod on the market. From what I have heard from him and a few others, they balance as well as the Champions.

Dave, if you are able to get your hands on one please lets know your thoughts.  I would like to here how they compare to the Champions.
