Reel repair/service pros

Featured Replies

Looking for some contact info or web sites for some of the well known reel guys. For servicing and/or super tuning.

Too bad Glenn didn't call me back about sponsorship.... :-X

Welcome aboard Delaware.  You claim a 3-day turnaround on reels and a 10 day turnaround on custom rods.  That's a tall order.  How do you do it?

My stuff goes to JFrancho.

Very nice work, very personable and a great price.

I stock as much inventory as I possibly can and don't let anything sit around. To clarify, turn around times do not include shipping. And any extenuating circumstance or deviation will be discussed upfront. Communication is the key to service and meeting expectations.

Does *** (aka: Reel Mech) not offer a discount to BR members any longer?

Thanks Wayne.

I've 43 reels in process right now....no way I could do a 3-day turn around, nothing to do with inventory, just business.

I recently asked the same question specifically for BassPro and Pflueger reels. I talked with J Franco, and via PMs with DVT. Both guys were very professional. I ended up sending 8 reels to Sanother siteBASSER. He did a fine job of cleaning, lubing all the reels, and tuning one of my Pro Qualifiers. I have not yet fished with any of the reels, but what a difference a good servicing make. 8-) All the reels are much smoother, probably more so than when new, and the tuned reel is definitely better than new. Whoever you choose to do the work, you will be amazed at how much better things work; at least I was.

I believe that deal ended Dec 31st.

K-Mac, Thank you for the compliment. There are a lot great people on this site offering great services. All I hope for is to be considered among them! :)

x2. My reels came back better than new, especially the Fuego with the new bearings.

David (aka Reel Mech) I hope you will continue to hang around. I don't know anything about the financial end of things, but I do know you have provided much in the way of free help, information, and advice to many of us over the years. Thank you. You would have been my first choice (no offense to anyone else) if you serviced my brands.

Kirby

I send my reels to David. AKA the Reel Mechanic.  He does amazing work.  In fact, I just shipped 3 of my reels to him this morning.  His turnaround time has to be at or near 3 days now--discounting shipping time.  I'm sure as we get closer to warmer weather that time may increase due to the number of reels he will have to work on but check with him, he'll tell ya!

Not only is his work great, but he has a wealth of knowledge that he is more than willing to share.
