Gary Loomis is back in the rod building business....sort of....

Recommended Posts

Certainly looks like a topic to keep an eye on. The last link is to an article from one of our local papers. The guy had some 'hands on' experience with a couple of the rods.

Wow, yet another contender in the $100 rod market. I knew Gary was partnering with TFO but i thought that they just sold the blanks and were looking for rod builders or something complicated like that. Im shocked over the price point. Lets see how great they turn out to be!

He is also making the new Kistler Z-Bone series. From what I have heard, these things are going to blow every other rod away!  I hope that is true.  Love Kistler rods.

You are aware that Gary has Northfolk Composites now, yes?

Exactly, Garys company NFC produces rod blanks, he is simply supplying blanks to TFO and endorsing their rods.

My question is, which one of the NFC blanks are they using?  I know its not the top of the line HM Next and even the IM Next are to pricey to use for $99 rods so it must be the entry level SM Next blank.

No matter, from what 2 buliders have told me that have built rods using a NFC blank the blanks are awesome compared to anything that exist today.

Its worth $99 to try the TFO rod but I do think their warrany program is a bit pricey, a requirement to send $40 in to replace a $99 rod doesn't sound like a deal for the buyer.

If you really want the scoop on Gary Loomis..

I would suggest that you read everything on HIS site, and, don't worry about what hearsay you have picked up.......

North Fork Composites

Custom rod builders have been working with him for over a year now......

I have built 3 of his new blanks up for my own rods...

Tight Lines All!!

Thanks for the link, David.  I read the whole thing and I am intrigued.  So I only see three builders in the registry of approved rod builders at this time.  Do you plan on submitting a build to become an approved North Fork rod builder?  I assume their standards are rather high.

Man, I might have to try one of those. I "need" one more spinning rod before season starts. Might as well save some money and try these.
