For very shallow reasons...............

Recommended Posts

It's color. Pflueger Supreme XT spinning. Great reel for that price, and I would probably have a couple if they were not "GOLD". Then there are the Carrot Stix. I would not mind having a few in my arsenal. I have shook a few at the tackle shop and think they are great, but they are "ORANGE".

Sorry folks, I am not into ,gold, orange, and now there is even a "WHITE" rod. Good equipment but I can not get past the color. Am I alone in my color fetish?

I am so ashamed of myself. Like I said "For very shallow reasons".

I agree with you them bright colors just don't appeal to me.

I bought a daiwa fuego love the reels preformance but not the red. but I'll still keep it. blk. grey. silver or even the green curado i can deal with.

I don't like the colors of any of Pfluegers XT reels and if I don't like the colors, I don't even consider them.  It's not so much bright colors for me as it is a balance of the colors.  I have a Carrot Stix Gold and Sol combo, both bright colors but match and balance well.  If I have a green, red, or bold color reel, the rod has to mach, i.e. Curado/Powell, Fuego/Damiki Dark Angel.

I am not a fan of the bright colored gear- ie. orange, gold. It's like I'm fishing with a toy (regardless of the cost). I am sure that the gear is high quality and performs well but I'm more inclined to go for the camouflage or even better fishouflage.

I buy what I think suits my needs regardless. Color has nothing to do about it.

That's your opinion of course.

I don't think its shallow at all.

I wouldn't by a car if I didn't like the color.

I wouldn't paint my house a color I didn't like.

Reels aren't any different, if I don't like the color I ain't buying it.

Therefor I will not be buying an XT.

I agree. I hate gold reels!

I always have to step up and spend more money just to get a black reel.

Funny how that works out for them. It's almost like they planned it.

I guess it just depends on what the overall setup looks like.  Im a huge fan of matching colors with the rod and reel though.  Im not a fan of Carrot Stix but with a blue revo they look sick.  Same thing with the Veritas rods hittin the market sometime this year.  Im not crazy about white in general, but Im starting to imagine what one would look like with a Chronarch D7 on top of it.  Oh, and that Core and Cumara setup is pretty sweet too.  Yup, its on the list.  Too bad its a long list :'(

I wonder how many more people would buy the Skeet Reese rods if the weren't that terrible yellow. Just about everyone I've talked to admitted that they have a good feel, but they're just too ugly.

If it performs well and there aren't any other better options, I'll go with it no matter how ugly. Like the Curado E7s, I HATE the color, but they are some of the best performing reels in that price range and fit my needs perfectly, so I got 2 anyways.

It isn't the name, it's what's inside.

When it comes to cars or houses color may be important. I look at reels as tools to help me catch fish. How they perform is important; color is no more important to me than the color of my drill motor or power saw. Just my opinion.
