I was all done fishing yesterday when i looked down at my curado and saw white goo in the part right in front of the spool (don't know the name for it). What could this be? My line? Any input will help.

Did you lube or wipe it down recently?  Often water reacting with oil will look white on various parts of you reel.

The levelwind worm gear?

Had you just caught an extremely large fish?

Did you loose some Twinky filling during that big bite while casting ? Sounds like lube and water mix to me, off the worm gear:)

1.  Pollution from water accumulating on reel.

2.  Reaction of oil (do not put grease on worm gear) to product you put on worm gear.

The foreign material either came from an outside source or it is a reaction to an outside source and the product you put on your reel.

Why not put grease on worm gear?  Because it accumulates dirt and grime.

Just a thought.....

Bet the reel is new and has never been service.

If so it is the old heavy grease that Shimano puts on the worm gear, and just about covers the inside of the reel with at mfging time. Clean it out and re-lube with a light oil.

If the reel has been serviced then it could be a foreign substances like cottonwood fluff, etc.

Like I said just a thought...
