What does your gear/tackle bag weigh???

Featured Replies

Well, spring is almost here :) (I hope) the battle of RI vs. CT is shaping up nicely, and all use Northeners have had to much time on our hands, bait monkey wise. I can honestly say, that after my visit to BPS this past Friday, I have WAY more than what I need to start the season. As I hefted my near gear bag to my "fishing room" in the basement, (that's where my wife has banished me) I wondered, "Does everyone's bag weigh this much??" Now I know alot of you have boats with massive storage, but on average, what does you gear bag weigh? I'd like to see what everyone else weighs in at so I can   determine how deranged I am!!! Mine......21 pounds even! :o

1,575 lbs.

That's the reason mine weighs so much.  My boat has zero storage.  :'(

exact numbers here:

9lbs 8ozs in soft plastics (not all of them either)

9lbs 3ozs for my tackle bag (this only includes about half of my lures though

Two Cabelas canvas 3700 box holders. I weighed them at 35 lbs. Of course this doesn't include backup stock.  :o

Alpster...

Thanks for the photos... ;D too much!!!!! So at 21 lbs. (not including back up stock!!) it looks like I am in the ball park. I hope to have a boat with more storage soon. It stinks to have to lug you tackle from boat to boat!!

I guess now I can work on "satellite" bags, for when I'm heading out in the canoe or Bassraider!!!!

That's funny that this was brought up cause the other night I asked my girlfriend to take my tackle bags into the bedroom and she couldn't lift it, so i decided to weigh it.  Main bag weighs 30#'s and then the swimbait bag/plastic's bag weights 11.  Like everybody else, it doesn't include the backup tackle.

Exactly    :o

April and October i can get by with 1 "3700" size box along with 4 "wraps". The months inbetween, well, that is a different story. I do plan on limiting  ;D what i carry in the boat this year....

When mine is full, hopefully by the end of winter, it'll weigh somewhere around 50 pounds. Right now its a lilttle under half full and weighs 25lbs.

I went the other way FINALLY , this season. I have the smaller OckeeChobbe Bag ( RED ONE) I have some baggies of plasitcs; *** ( 3 and 5 in),Craws,Brush Babys and Ripple tail worms.

Plastic storage Boxes: For Jigs, Hooks, Terminal Tackle ( including weights0

'3 X 2700 Boxes

Cranks

Rapalas

Topwater

Extra sspools of lines, Scent, Sunglasses , Pliers and Clippers

THATS ALL SHE WROTE; everything else went into the giveaway stash.

I use this stuff all the time, the rest of it was fgoing for rides all the time. I fish because i love to fish, I am out of the whose got the most stuff contest. Soem of you guys have won that contest, me I am sticking with what i use and what works.

The bag I carried weighs around 40lbs. I got a new one for Xmas because the strap connector broke on the old one (it was not meant to hold 40lbs) that should be bigger. Like everyone else this does not come close to including backup tackle. I have a pegboard in my basement that holds 80lbs+ of soft plastics.

I have to go to the truck stop and weigh my boat. It is my tackle box lol.

Had to get rid of the bag

Too much. I need to downsize/consolidate all four boxes and large Okechobee bag into no more than 2. I'm working on that before our next outing!

The weight of a tackle bag is a moving target.  It's like the guy who continues to gain weight until he weighs over a 1000 lbs.  It never ends.  I would venture a guess that Raul has some of the heaviest bags in the fishing kingdom.  :o

I keep all of my tackle seperated as to depth and size in Plano type boxes. They number anywhere from 15-23 seperate boxes depending on the lake and the time of year. Plastics are kept in their original bags. Add it all together and I figure around 30-35lbs. They stay in specified compartments in my boat and seldom are they removed. If I had to guess my plastics probably weigh 15lbs + on their own. Heck I'm going to my boat now to weigh everything. Will let you know shortly.

Here are the weights on tournament scales:

22 Plano boxes with hard baits              17.53

All plastics                                           14.91

Terminal Tackle (Hooks, weights, etc)      1.81

Spinnerbaits and two boxes                    1.43

Total                                                   35.68

I did not count nets, bouys, rods, reels, life jackets etc.
