There was alot of drooling over the patriarch but IMO the stylings of the supreme are money.  Gonna get one and know it's gonna be awesome.

The only thing I didn't like about that spool it that it was too deep. It would take alot of briad to fill it up and that can get expensive. IMO it just needs to be a shallow spool.

For me the spool is fine, I like a lot line ( braid ) on my reels.  I don't care for the round handle but would have to see it person, it's a nice looking reel.  At present I use a supreme 35, not xt for light saltwater inshore and the reel has been an excellent performer.  I know MG is not recommended for salt but I have no problem at all.

Pretty... may end up being my first Pflueger.

use some cajun red mono as backing line. same diameter as your braid.

I do like the flat knob on the Patriarch but it the Supreme's knob is anything like the Stradic CI4, it should be very comfortable.

If I buy one, this will be the combo

I would recommend you not filling your entire spool with the line you want to fish with. Fill it half-way (or 1/3-way, whatever) with the cheapest mono you can find and then spool it the rest of the way with your line du jour. That will be more than enough line for bass fishing and you will get extra mileage out of your spool purchases.

I just walked in from work to find a Cabela's box waiting for me:http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0053583122676a&navCount=2&podId=0053583&parentId=cat601360&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601360_TGP&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601360&hasJS=true

Snagged it for $69.99 in the Bargain Cave. I know the price in the link says $99.99, that went up after I ordered Tuesday night. They must be clearing out the first generation gold colored ones. A nice touch is a big thick neoprene reel bag included in addition to the spare spool.

I'll tell you what, no one makes a bail like Pflueger's Sure Click. I've had bail issues on just about every other make of spinning reel I own, never these, including the "bottom end" Trion. The drags have been flawless for me also.

I just snagged a new 8030MG Pflueger Supreme off Ebay and it arrived yesterday. Matched it to a Quantum Tour Edtion PTS704F rod. Tested it out today on several bass from 1-3 lbs. Love the feel of this reel. It's light and the drag is awesome! The MG handle is to my liking also. I have two of the Trions and the Pflueger spinning reel drags are superb. I've landed 30 inch stripers on my Trions in the past and had no drag problems at all with them, even when they stripped almost a whole spool of line out.

For my money it's Pflueger spinning reels all the way. I see one of these new XT reels in my future also.

The Supreme (regular one) is what I've been using for a couple years now. I love them. The drag is butter smooth, no line twists, casts a mile and they're really light for spinning reels which is what I had been waiting on for a long time.

I was skeptical when I got the first one, I guess because it was so light...I didnt know if it could handle the job. Boy, was I wrong. So wrong I had to buy a couple more.  ;)

The new XT's you linked first are nice and slightly lighter than the regular magnesium Supreme's. I may have to try one before I buy any of the Revo spinning reels.   ;D

If its lightness and quality your after you can't go wrong with the new XT.  But honestly someone like you should take a look at the new Patriarch spinning reel.  Its lighter, cooler looking and better built.

If you're on the fence about the Supreme, this may push you over: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0053575122647a&navCount=1&podId=0053575&parentId=cat601359&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601359&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601359&hasJS=true

It may not be the greatest rod (I really don't know anything about them) but it's a free rod. Also with the combo I don't know if you get the extras that come with the reel; reel bag, spare spool.

The New XT will match up perfectly with my Cabelas XML rods since they have the same paint scheme. I might have to have one in my future just for that reason. They really look nice.
