drop shot...what knot??

Featured Replies

what knot do you use?

will improved clinch knot work....leaving the desired tag length and running it back through the hook eye to get the bait to stand out as much as possible..  :-/

thanks

Should work.  Most use the Palomar but give it a shot.  What's important is after you run the tag end through and you pull the line tight (above and below the hook), that the hook sticks out horizontally.  That's what you are aiming for.

I use a Palomar, but my friend Noel uses a clinch knot. Works just fine for him.

U se a palomar with a long tag

i use palomar. make a long tag end and pass it through the top of the hook 'eye' after youve tied the hook. attach the sinker to the tag end.

Use a Palomar with a long tag end then run the tag end back down through the eye of the hook.  Pull it tight and the hook should stick straight out horizontally.  Tie a drop shot sinker on the end at the desired length and cut the tag.

The palomar works perfectly to keep the hook sticking out from the line rather than just hanging from it.

The IC knot ought to work, but why bother tying it when the palomar can be tied faster. Not only that the Palomar also is easier to tie with less steps involved. In addition, if you're using braid, the IC knot is not the best choice. The other reason for me is in subfreezing weather.  The palomar is easier to tie with frozen fingers.  ;D

I definitely use the IC knot for other things and I like this knot. But for drop shotting, the Palomar, if only for ease of use is the knot I prefer to use.

Palomar... potentially quicker, stronger, and less likely to slip.

There is no other knot to use other than a palomar  knot. That is unless you like to :'( cry and cuss a lot. I have never broken off in all of my years of fishing light line at the knot.

palomar works great for me.

X2 or is it X15?

id say use a polamar

Nice going, Tin.  Way to  :-X

;D ;D

Mike, look up "wiggle rigs", "spectastic" or go to the Secret Weapon Lures website.

well I'll be, very interesting indeed.

Fishing has to be leader in "Worst kept secrets", oh well...

LOL indeed I'll need to look that up as well.

Palomar knot for sure. I found a video on you tube with skeet reese showing how to tie and loop back through the eye....very informative....  :)

Palomar knot then bring the tag end through the point side of the hook loop.

Tin :-X lol

I vote we delete this thread before more damage is done  :)
