sof plastic crawfish

Featured Replies

Just wondering how every one rigs soft plastic crawfish when using them?  I put them on an 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig heads. What does everyone else do?  I like using them for smallies so more tips would be appreciated.

I TX rig the larger ones, and for smaller craws / night fishing or clear water I rig on a shaky head.

On the river smallies here I rig Yum crawbugs with a standup jighead..I use a hopping retrieve like the craw is trying to escape

I fish them as a jig trailer, never naked.

yea i use t rig for the 3.5 in and longer then  with the smaller ones i just either use it as a trailer or if im fishing around rock with no weeds i will just put them on a 1/8ounce jighead naked and cast it out

Naturally as a jig trailer but a Texas Rigged craw worm is extremely deadly  ;)

Lately I've been doing really well with the GYCB Flappin hog just t-rigged.  I've gotten far more bites this way than with it on a jig head.  It's so small, but it has caught me lots of 4 to 6 pounders as well as my first 10 pound bass last week.

When you guys T-rig a craw do you peg the sinker or not?  Thanks

I love to C-rig plastic craws in rivers. It's the only lure other then a lizzard I C-rig. I also use them as trailers on jigs.

Don't peg a weight ever; I prefer my weight & plastic to separate; if conditions are conducive to pegging I'll throw a jig-n-craw.

C-Rig, T-Rig, and 1/4oz jig.

I also like them as a jig trailer

x2. I also used one on a drop shot rig once and caught a couple of smallies.

Craws are maybe the most versatile soft plastic made. I fish them more often than any other softy. Texas rigged, Carolina rigged, swimming them, or as jig trailers, I use them for just about everything. Last Fall, I was using them with an eighth oz pegged at tip while finesse top water fishing them and pausing over openings in the mats to let them drop in. I was catching as many while slowly buzzing them as dropping in the holes. Gotta use a super action craw like the Rage Tail to make this really effective. Get yourself a bunch of craws and get-it-on, I think you will find yourself catching alot more fish.

I LOVE to throw plastic craws.  I take a Bass Pro Shops Finesse Craw, stick it on a 1/0 gammy e.w.g. with a 1/16oz bullet weight and toss it around in thick cover.  My PB came on this setup.  She weighed 14.8

I haven't caught a hoss like that, but I agree with Senko that I do catch larger fish on t-rigged craws.  I use the 2 1/2 inch and 3 1/4 inch Yum Crawbugs.  I use a 1/0 EWG Gammy for the small ones, and a 3/0 EWG for the larger ones, and generally use 1/16 oz bullet weights if the wind will allow it.  Otherwise, I'll increase the weight.
