So who's gonna get this one?

Featured Replies

probably a good reel...the certate series have quite a following around the wide world of web.

that said, can't see one in my future...rarely use a spinner anymore.

Hey, it's got a wooden handle ! Just like my $40 Flooger Trion. I guess that about evens it up... ::o

It is a nice looking piece for sure. Maybe after I hit the lottery next week. Certates for everyone !!!

I'll pass. I had only a passing interest in a standard Certate for 2/3 that price, so this one is definitely not on my wish list.

That is a nice looking reel, and way better than that Cabela's commemorative faux symetre.  All it needs is a red led and it would be a cylon raider.  ;D

Great looking reel for sure but no more than I use a spinner I'll stick to my Tierra.  Really like the gun metal look though.

The price isn't bad, considering MSRP on the original JDM Certate was about $349+.  There are a couple of JDM Certates that are over $400

I thought domestic Certates were around $400.

looks sweet!  little too steep for my price range though..

The round handle, which seems to be getting popular, kills the deal before it even gets started.  Hard for me to understand why some weekend warrior would spend $300 to catch smallish fish when a reel half that price would do the job just as well and have as much fun.  Making a living from fishing is a different story.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I think this would

be a great addition to someone's collection.

Hope to read a review from a BR member

sometime soon.

Bass Pro has/had the 2009 model on sale for about $200. I don't know if that's the in-store price only but quite a few guys picked them up.

Thanks for posting the pic.

Looks beautiful.

Lucky for me I am set with spinning rigs.

Maybe someone will get it and let us know how it handles.

Keep warm!  :o

There is one more point I'd like to make, this is just from observation of Japanese tackle porn mags and websites.  Japanese anglers don't have as many rod and reel combos as we do in America.  They don't have as much access to the variety of fishing areas and most don't have boats.

A serious Japanese angler may pay $800 for a casting set up and $800 for a spinning set up and be happy.  They also have inexpensive tackle there but it's not stuff we would point to as "gotta have" or post worthy.

Not trying to start a debate but sometimes its not about what is cost effective, make sense or roi, it's more of I like it so I'll buy it thing.  Same could be said for firearms, people purchase expensive firearms and never fire them or just like to take them to a range when a less expensive one will accomplish the same task.   Not just pros competition shooters purchase expensive arms, amatures also like and enjoy the expensive ones.  Same for cars, boats and most any other item.

Believe it or not but I 've never owned a Daiwa reel of any kind but I do now.

Hey SirSnookalot you are certainly entitled to your own opinion but that's all it is.

I have shimanos , pfluegers, abu's, quantums and now a daiwa ,Cost means nothing to me if I want it and can afford it.

Now that is a surprise. I like the looks of this reel better, and I've always liked smaller knobs for bass fishing, and the reel is like $150 less than the domestic certate. Its just still too much for me, but I'm glad someone snagged one - they are very well built.

Man, a lot of us just like to "collect" stuff. We own

a whole lot of gear we have never/ will never fish.

My personal obsession is jerkbaits. What's yours?

I won't pick up this reel, it's a Diawa...but I own

a few Stella. I like 'em, they perform perfectly.

On the other hand, they probably don't catch

more fish for me than using a Stradic. It's just

fun for me. Isn't that what it's all about?

That's a really nice looking reel and a great price.  I just picked up two Stradic 2500 CI4 yesterday for $300 or else I would consider getting one.
