Just wondering what some of you are using when it comes to finess fishing / weightless rod setups? Spinning/ casting, Line, Reel retrieves, Rod Length, blank/ taper etc

I use a 7' m falcon cara. It's a fast action, on a Stradic ci4 with 20# power pro and 6# invizx leader.

I use 2, a 7' ML, fast action St Croix Avid w/ Daiwa Exceler spooled up with 6lb Trilene 100% fluorocarbon, and a 6'8" M, X-fast St Croix Mojo w/Daiwa Exceler spooled with 10lb Powerpro, I either tie the braid directly to my bait if the water is not super clear, or I use an 8lb fluoro. leader if it is.

The 7' Avid is almost exclusivly used for drop shotting, the 6'8" is more of a "GP" set up..........shaky heads, tubes, finesse jigs, flick shake, and various other things.

When I get a new spinning rod, my finesse setup will be a 7'2 MF Cumara spinning rod, 2500 Sahara, 6# CXX.

I use a Veritas 6'9 ML MF action paired with a Pflueger Supreme 8030 for my finesse techniques.  I use it for drop shot most of the time but for other types of light finesse fishing as well.  I use 8lb Seaguar Invizx.   

Casting - Shimano Cumara 6'8"MF, Core 50, and 8lb Sunline Sniper.

Spinning - Shimano Crucial Dropshot 7'2"MXF, Saros 2500, and 6lb InvizX.

I was reading on Bassmaster article by IKE and he uses 3 types of rods when finess fishing, all spinning and he rates them by their flex 70/30 60/40 80/20. 70/30 being the rod he uses most, 70/30, thats typically a medium fast rod right?

I use a 7' M/F spinning rod with a 2500 size reel and 8lbs fluorocarbon line.

80/20 would probably describe a fast action rod; 70/30 a mod-fast, and  60/40 a moderate.

I'm sure, with that nomenclature, he's desribing action rather then power.

For most of my light line bass fishing I use 6'9" ML-XF St Croix LT with a Daiwa Alphas 103F.

The same rods and reels I use for everything else. Finesse fishing is a mindset, nothing else.

I VERY MUCH agree with this statement, though in deep northern lakes, finesse usually means lighter line for bigger bass.  Thus, light spinning gear, to help protect that light line.

But yeah, you can fish a 1 oz. jig or DD22 with every bit of finesse.
