Reels under $60

Featured Replies

Is there any good ones under this price or is there any on sale right now at BPS?

Casting or spinning? There's plenty of good spinning reels in this price range, casting might be a little more difficult to find.

They are going to have a baitcaster this week on one of their 1 day specials, limit 4 per customer. Prolite Special 10 bearing, alum. frame, doesn't sound bad. $ 49.99, Sat. March 12 only.

Not in my experience.

My brother actually likes his Pinnacle he got from Walmart for $60 I think. I can't remember the model of it but he got it last year. I know it's not the slider. The good news there is a Pinnacle section with a Pinnacle rep. Pinnacle 1 I think is his name.

If willing to up to $69 is the Browning Citori and if it's still at this price at BPS in store? Online still lists it at $99. I know I just got one that I like. The braking was a little weird to me as well, radial tuned braking, It's goes free 1,2,3 I have it set on two. I never messed with the brakes but I had no problem casting the Madd Maxx frogs in my yard. I paired it with 7'6 H-F Carrot Stix and spooled with Suffix 832 50#.

Also the reel is a 1 piece aluminum frame, 8 bearing system, machined aluminum spool, 6.4:1 gear ratio( online store lists it comes in both hands and 5.4:1 and 7.1:1 also) maximum drag power:17.6 lbs.

Can any pm and explain to me the braking system?

I agree. Stay away from cheap baitcasters.

Buy used, have it serviced by a pro, save a ton.

The least expensive reel I have been satisfied with is a citica

I wouldn't waste my money on a reel under $100.

You can find the the older model Quantum Accurist PT on ebay for $60 or less at times. It's a very solid reel and comes with the flipping which. You can read up on the regular model on TackleTour and the PT is a step up on that model.

At retail yes, but you can find some some good deals in the flea market  :)

my walmart actually had some weet sales, idk if others do, but mine had abu pro max for $45 reg $80ish... and some pinnacle vision xlts for $50 reg $90

Buy a used reel in the flea market here or look for a sale. For baitcasters at 60 dollars there aren't a lot of options. Spinning wise there are some serviceable reels.

I got an accurist 501pt for use on a pitching rig on ebay for $50 new in box.  So far it has been great.  It is smooth and has a good drag.

I got a similar deal on ebay on the 501pt as well and my reel is just over 2 years old and not a problem at all. I'm using my reel as my pitching rig as well.

Apparently you've never used a PQ..

You can also find the Daiwa Exceler which comes in 3 speeds online at PoorFish.com for under or right around $60 with shipping included.

Academy Sports and Outdoors sell their house brand H20 Xpress Mettle reels every day for $49.99. Best reel I have ever owned for under $60 and I have owned quite a few as I am a penny pincher choker. ;D

I'm not sure who makes them but they have the six-pin internal braking system that looks similar to the old green Curado 200B series' brakes. Aluminum frame and ten bearings, 6:1 gears. I have three and I have tried hard to find something wrong with them and have compared them side by side on trips with my my Citicas and Curado 200B reels, not much difference I must say. They do come a little dry when new but I just oil the regular places, spool shaft, under the tension knob, all accesible bearings and the worm gear and they fly. Once a year they run a sale on these for half price.....good time to stock up on the best reel out there for under $60.
