Lake fork help

Featured Replies

Well first of all I would like to say hello. I am new to this sight but it seems to be the best bass fishing website I have found yet. This is actually my first post.

Me and a friend from work are planning a trip to Fork in March. I have only fished there one time before way up the east fork and never left that area. My buddy has never fished fork. This time I am wanting to stay on the lower end of the lake probally on the west side of the west

fork. We are not tournament fisherman we just want to go fishin. I am looking for advice on anything basically. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

Tom Redington is awesome enough to post a monthly fishing report on this site for Fork. I would check back right here in January and especially February and print the pattern information he posts. I would bet you will catch fish following his patterns.  8-)

Welcome aboard!

Tom Reddington posts regular Lake Fork fishing reports in this section of the forum. I'm sure he will have detailed information for your trip as we get a little closer.

The only two things that can be said about Lake Fork in March is that the spawn should be in full swing and that the weather is completely unpredictable.  Be prepared for all of the following: warm spring days, sudden severe thunderstorms, 50mph winds, freezing rain, sleet or snow, and near freezing temperatures.

Spawn didn't get into full swing this year until well into April.  Don't go counting on spawn in March.

I spent a week at Fork in March of this year.  On Monday, we loaded the boat;  several 5 to lbrs.  On Tuesday, a front came through and dropped a load of rain.  Wednesday morning, the water was high and muddy.  Caught only 5 fish a day on average the rest of the week.

Pre-spawn spawn fishing in Texas starts in February & continues until late April  :)
