I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Carolina Rig + Buzzbait + Night Time! ;)

Caught around 20 fish yesterday on beds.  Mostly males, but did have a 5lb male and a 7lb female.  Caught em off the same bed.  Saw a bunch of BIG fish, but they were so spooky that once you saw them they would take to deep water.  Fished for about 30 minutes on one that would have probably went between 8-10lbs but she wasnt having it and after 30 minutes she left and never came back.  It was a fun day and the kids enjoyed it.  Now to get ready for the Best 6 coming up next weekend.  Gonna be fighting with 600 people in the Best 6, probably 50 in the Bass n Bucks, and the Elites Series guys.  Gonna be a packed house!!

Great Bass_Fantiac!

Ya was down south?

If ya in a tournament no details!

We were south of the bridge  :laugh5: . Im just afraid that by the time the Best 6 tournament starts next Saturday, the Elites will have picked off most of the females off of the beds on the south end.  Im going to check them again next Friday, but aint banking on that pattern.

Yea I know, lot of tournaments right now!

Boy was it windy...fished the big pond yesterday with my son in the housen/six mile area. The wind blew us off our main spots early in the day so we had to do a little scrambling! Ended up putting 23 fish in boat with 11 keeper size fish. All of our bites came in 2-5 fow on plastics.....mainly a fluke or wacky worm. Largest was 4 pounds, had one a little bigger break off.....overall a great day with my boy!

Main Lake looking good! ;)

Fished today, 2 tiny fish, blue Bird, 10 mph north wind.Hopefully it's better tomorrow.....anyone else catch em today?

Hello all, I found this site last night. Been reading some of the post hoping to learn how to fish on Toledo bend. I have been living here for eight years now and evidently I don't know how to fish! This lake just kicks my bass, I must be snake bit.

Fished San Miguel, 1215 and union bay area today. One itty bitty tight eye. Gloom despair and agony on me!!

Hopefully I can pick up some good pointers from a few of you guys. Going again tomorrow, I ain't givin up.

Welcome PODNAH! Lots of good info here!

I have caught more fish during the spawn on this pattern than I can count. It is not the most exciting method to catch em but it flat works. Our trip last Thursday I reported on earlier used this exact pattern using watermelon red or watermelon candy zoom trick worms fished painfully slow, almost dead sticking. The bite was very subtle as well, most bites detected by seeing line move versus feeling a bite.

Catt; Why the swivel with the wacky worm?

Changes the way it falls!

It's a mini C- rig, some times I'll add a 1/16 bullet weight.

We caught 6 keepers & 15--18 total. Most on flukes but a couple on the rogue.

Thanks for the welcome and tips Catt and Fanatic. Fished again today in the back of Lanan, caught fish all day long from first light to 1pm. A couple of 3's and the other 3 fish were 14". Had five fish to weigh for the oilmans tournament but nothing that would win. But it was a ton of fun most of the fish were cut from a mold at 13-1/2". I would say we caught upwards of 25 or better. Kept waiting for the big ones to show but no luck.

Caught on a watermelon/red wave worm dipping one end in spike it chartreuse color, rigged wacky. Caught a bunch on 3/8 oz. Stanley wedge. It was a new color, can't remember the name. Skirt was chartreuse, some white and a little peach color, kind of resembled a perch.

Sure beat yesterday's no fish day. I just got to start thinking like a big fish to start catching big uns I reckon.
