I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Ya can fish em any where ya want ;)

Even off of the banks? And I heard you mainly fish them in clearer water, is that true?

The only lure I would not fish off the bank would be deep diving crank baits.

You can fish any lure, any color & any technique in any water color, so quit reading dumb charts!

Thanks Catt

Went out today and caught about 7 black bass on crankbaits.  Also caught 15-20 White bass.  Fish were on main lake points in 18-25 FOW.

Yesterday we had a boat idle right up to where we were fishing and idle around us graphing the spot.  I like to call that bent rod scouting.

Were the cranks deep diving?

Just a reminder guys, his coming Saturday is the Fruit Jar out of Cypress Bend. Would love to see some of y'all there! $100 a boat

Yes strike king 6xd or 8xd

Caught 15 all weekend. Biggest was three pounds. Struggled with the waves. Fished Housen humps and points Friday morning. Fished Lanana humps near Hwy 1215 Friday afternoon. Fished Palo Guacho points and humps at the mouth Saturday. Caught 5. This morning caught 7 at the mouth of San Miguel.

Most caught on a junebug worm and a spinnerbait. Caught 2 on a crankbait.

Had a good day Saturday.  Fished from 10 to 4 and caught a good many fish, 40-50 or so.  Had 1 almost 6, missed another at the boat that size, and had a 5 and lots of 2's.  It was slower this weekend than before so I guess I'm starting to wear out the spot.  Probably be back this weekend.  I think it seemed slower because the spots were not there, just largemouth.  Texas senko, football jig, deep cranks, and a little topwater when they came up.  I'm having a ball up there this year.

Little fish, you can fish a dropshot any depth.  I have fished it down here in stained water 2 feet deep in the spring.  I usually go to it on TB when the fish back off deep or when I can't get bit on anything else or when they slow down on a spot you know they are there.

Awesome! I knew somebody whacked em. I just couldn't catch more than two in one spot. Need better spots, I guess.

I'm catching on 2 spots that I marked last summer.  Only caught a few on each spot when I marked them but they are loaded this year.  Maybe I'm just understanding them better now.

I'm very happy for ya. Can you please explain what makes those spots so good so that maybe I can begin to understand? Just the factors and characteristics of the the spots. By no means do I want the specific locations.

I thought I understood what to look for but evidently not. I did learn not to put too much stock in navionics charts and to lower my trolling motor lol

That sounds like a awesome day jcdogfish. About what depth are you finding these concentrations of green trout? Evidently I am doing something not quite right lol . Kinda like Little Fish I'm catching a few in each spot but have yet to find them stacked.

Ah... my favorite color bait. Nice to hear from ya ;)

The fish I've been on have been in 20-25ft. But there is a decent punch bite going on right now too

Fanatic, can you please tell me where I can find enough hydrilla to punch? I love that but haven't seen enough to try it there.

Hello and thanks to Catt and everyone else on this awesome thread!! I've read the entire thing over the last week and wow, it's great! I just started fishing the big bend last year when I bought my boat, and like all of you I love it! I'm on the lake at least once a week if not more and I'll be at it tmrw if the weather seems ok in the morning. I'll try to update when I get home. God bless you guys and don't forget to thank him for bass fishing in your prayers!!

Like Fanatic said 20-25 feet.  Both spots have a bar that drops into a channel.

There is plenty of hydrilla to pinch in housen, six mile, pirates, and most creeks on the south end. But don't sleep on the hay grass. With the water up, there are fish to be caught punching hay grass all over the lake.

Thank you both.
