Had 3 generations on the boat Friday at Yates Center. Caught largemouth, a surprise smallmouth, green sunfish, a wiper, a white bass, a walleye, and a couple channel cats. Lots of action on the 3.5" YUM Pulse swimbait again.

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Is there anyone local that can rebuild a rod?

The front reel seat came loose on my Elitetech Smallmouth. I can probably inject some epoxy in there and hope it sticks but that's probably just a temporary fix. I love the blank but hate the reel seat. Any ideas on cost for redoing it? Thanks.

@Shawk63, you say you need a frog rod? I have one I'd part with if you're interested. PM me if you'd like to discuss it.

Went to Gardner lake yesterday for the first time.  Fished there for 4.5 hours and my buddy and I caught around 17 lm bass.  Nothing really big, maybe one was about 17 inches long, the rest were about 10-12 inches at best.  I was trying out my new gear as I finally made the jump to baitcast reels so I was soley there to learn.  Did not get the 'birds nest" at all, but I was close a couple of times, LOL!!  I was only using square bill cranks using I think a DT4 or DT6 because I thought that would be the easiest to learn on a baitcast reel.  Overall we had a blast and though I have heard there are not many big ones in that lake, it was sure fun as hell to catch that many in a short amount of time.  Personally I caught 10 and that was the most I have caught in one day in over a year.

Hillsdale was pretty decent for me during our Thursday nighter last week. Caught a few more after the battery died in the camera. Coty finally did put one in the boat for our 5th fish right after it died also.

Melvern fished pretty good again Thursday. Good mix of smallmouth, largemouth, spots, and a few whites. First time in a long time that I've had the multiple fish following in a hooked fish again, some of them were quite a bit larger than the 15-16 inch fish I was catching. It's not 2015 Melvern, but I still had over 30 in the boat with some nice quality fish and never felt like I was really working for them. All of them were fat, healthy, and mean too.

Did some river fishing Friday out of the kayak, good times.

Wanting to try Lake Shawnee but unsure which would be best.  Should I go to Shawnee County Lake Shawnee or Shawnee State Fishing Lake?  Never fished either one just wanting to branch out on some smaller waters.

Shawnne county lake is one of my favorite smaller lakes. I have done better there than Wyandotte this year.

It has a good population of Largemouth and Smallmouth.

a lot of the largemouth are in the 14-17 inch range with a few larger fish. Smallmouth tend to run a little smaller.

a good population of largemouth hang around in both boat ramp coves.

I have caught smallmouth and largemouth on the rocky points.

I have never fished Shawnee state lake.

Shawnee State Lake is shallow and dirty, has a good population of larger largemouth bass but very few smallmouth, dirt roads getting to it also, north of Silver Lake a few miles.

Lake Shawnee in Topeka is typically clear, rocky with weeds and some laydowns. It's a mix of largemouth and smallmouth with large versions of both. It also has an insane number of drum in it and during the heat of the summer it's often difficult to catch much else.

I prefer Lake Shawnee but I try to stick more to winter, spring, and fall out there, the bite is awfully tough during the summer.

Went to Gardner Lake in Olathe on August 18.  Fished from about 2-6pm and we caught probably 15 LM bass between the two of us.  Mostly used crankbaits with mixed use of flicker shad, KVD square bills, and others.  Caught this 4lb on the flicker shad next to a dock at around 10 feet in depth.  Starting to really like this lake just for the fact that fish are there and biting, though most of the fish we catch are not keepers.

that is one of the few eastern Kansas Lakes I have not fished. Do the residents ever get cranky about fishing around their docks?

I've only ever had one say anything and he was so drunk he could hardly stand up. His dock sucks anyways so I just skip it.

I haven't had any problems yet.  Most who were out on their decks or on the docks were very nice to speak with and polite.  I always stay about 10-15 yards away from docks just to avoid the d-bags that get mad if you were right next to their docks.  Ran into another guy yesterday at the gas station and we started to talk.  He also said that Gardner lake is a great lake to catch LM bass, but agreed that most of what you catch are not keepers.

Gonna try to head to La Cygne over Labor Day weekend. Anyone have any suggestions or structure/cover maps to share?

Plastics on the riprap fished slow is usually my best bait this time of year. Going to be real hot, I'd get there as early as you can or stay late if possible. Light weights come through those rocks better for me, bigger ones just slam down in the rocks and stay there. Cranks are great if you don't care what you catch.

Anyone willing to make a drive might look at Truman right now. Stuck a lot of fish yesterday. Had 5 keepers. Big worm, big square bill, toss nothing but spooks before 10am. Don't be scared to do all those things around trees in 25 feet of water.

Spent the morning  at Wyandotte. Caught several small bass plus a 3lb largemouth and a bonus 7lb. 4oz wiper.

was there last week and the water was really green.

the recent rains must have knocked down the algae. it looked a lot better today.1346755399_20180826_102151(1).thumb.jpg.542c0105b8588985c2a63fc0a56107d2.jpg20180826_103844.thumb.jpg.ac981a93d60dcd2cf9e7341a4ffc6c44.jpg

Hey everybody, it’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted anything but it’s been crazy lately for me between getting married and moving and finding out I have a son on the way, but I’ve managed to get out to Perry a few times the last month and I can report that the white bass and drum are extremely easy to find, it feels like any rocky shoreline+a squarebill and you can fill the boat! Lol but I did catch my first Perry smallmouth which was about 16.5” and I lost what was probably my pb largemouth by the docks West of the Rock creek marina. I won’t guess it’s weight but I was shocked by the size of its mouth when it came out of the water and threw my kvd 1.0 back at me. I’m hoping to get back out there Wednesday and see if I can tempt it to bite again

Didn't realize that was you fishing with Reggie. I saw his pictures and one said Osage River and I thought LOZ. Looks like you just needed a good kicker. Any time you can get 5 at Truman in the summer is a good day though.

We had a strong early bite. Perfect spot, perfect sun, perfect wind. Other than I couldn't see mt bait due to sun glare and could hear the fish striking at the Spook, but had to wait to feel the fish. Longest 5 seconds of my life.

@Doc-Drew

I wonder with all of the rain we have had the last few days how the bass will react to it.  Good, bad, indifferent??
