Update: Not looking good. I'm going to be staying with a friend.

Still have some stuff for sale, would really like to get it gone. Fresh out of rods and reels, for now. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for thinking about me, and offering support

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

I'll be in Wichita on the 12th and would be glad to transport anything back to KC for anyone, if you want to avoid shipping.

Killed it at Wolf Creek today with Brian and Drew! Junk fishing at it's finest! All joking aside, they seemed to want anything BUT the ned. Probably over 20 largemouths between the three of us, a bunch of hard pulling wipers and some incidental white bass. Numerous jerkbait doubles and a wiper triple. Drew took big bass at 3.65. Most of our fish came on jigs and jerkbaits, with the exception of Drews magical red square bill :)

Yeah, who knew a 3 lb largemouth would come completely out of the water after a red squarebill seconds after it lands before I even engage the spool??  Obviously January fishing!  It sure was fun though.  Any day you can get bass thumb in January is a good day, even if you can't feel body parts by the end of the day.

As far as the flotation device, Brian and I figured since Conor packed on some extra weight this winter, he wouldn't need a life jacket to float  :laugh5: ... only kidding!

To follow up Conor's post: today was for sure a fun one at Wolf Creek. Those turds definitely outfished me on the Largemouth game though.

60 degrees at the outlet, 35-39 main lake. Started at the outlet on the riprap side with no tugs. Made another pass on the soft side and had our first few fish of the day. Including my first jerkbait fish. He hit it once and I missed it, let it sit and turned to Conor and Drew, when all of the sudden he slammed it again, coming straight out of the water. That was so righteous. Made another few passes and decided to make a run across the lake to the riprap by the island. Regretted that idea within 5 minutes of fishing and the 37 degree water temp. Ran back to the outlet and fished there until we left. Like Conor said, they wanted everything (but the Ned). We all caught fish on jerkbaits, jigs, and cranks. And all of us caught really nice fish on all three. They were definitely up shallow as well. Most of our fish came in 2.5 feet, mud and grass. Only one fish off the riprap. Had a really fun time at the end when we came upon a huge school of wipers and whites. Multiple doubles and triples were had to end the day! Biggest of the day went 3.65# and that was Drew's fish. Also got lots of GoPro footage to boot.

Can't forget the fish the "Curt Special" caught...

All kidding aside, that jerkbait worked really well for me including catching the largest of the day.  Thanks again Curt!

It's a sign of prosperity.

Speaking of which..

Here's the full GoPro video if anyone is interested in watching!

Good video guys! Gotta love when your hand gets knocked off the reel around 5:50

Lol, the spool spun because the cold killed the anti-reverse! That was a fun birds nest to untangle after releasing that fish

I bet! I'll have to get out there sometime. Love the jerkbait bite.

Good video.  Looks like a fun day!

For those of you that use Luck-E-Strike RC STX, here is a reminder to change the hooks.  I happened to be using the only one of the RC STX that still had stock hooks.  This was from one wiper that hit (or should I say destroyed) and ran then came off.

It happened a couple times.  The final straw was when about a 12" white straightened them.  Knew it was time to change

Thanks for the heads up, I have started using those a lot. What kind of hooks would you suggest changing to? I've never done this before.

The only thing I can think of is if they are trying to get the new stack online?

Let us know if you hear anything!

I usually change mine with Gamakatsu short shanks.  Some times (especially with the RC STX) you have to experiment with hooks, split rings, etc to get it to suspend correctly.

Good thing it was on Curt's bait then!

Is it spring yet?

Is it spring yet?

I second that... Only seven more Fridays... :/
