Bass fishing in Northern New York

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if anyone fishes in Northern New York and what their favorite waters are. I currently going to school in Potsdam but live near Watertown.

Welcome aboard!

Watertown Aye...you're surrounded by super bass fishing!!

My favorite New York waters were the St Lawrence River (Lake of the Isles and vicinity), Black Lake and Lake Champlain.

If you go through Canadian Customs you've got Cranberry Lake, Opinicon Lake, Rideau Lake and Georgian Bay (30,000 Islands)

I'm getting homesick :'(

I fished St.Regis river, up by the Canadian border: great smallies and northern pike! I am going back this year and hope to hit Black Lake also.

You probably know it muddy, but Black Lake used to give up some large muskies :)

Lake Ontario and The St Lawerance River(1000 Islands) are awesome....! :)

Don't know about northern NY but I do like Greenwood in southern NY and Oneida in western NY. And seeing all the Coney Island Whitefish washed up on the beach really put me off any NYC fishing. :-X

Not to mention FLATBUSH FLOUNDER>>>>>>>PAMPERS

:) Lots of great NY lakes...many already mentioned....Lake Champlain, Lake George, Oneida Lake, Black Lake, Saranac Chain of Lakes, Tupper Lake, Saratoga Lake, Great Sacandaga Lake, 1000 Islands (St. Lawrence River), and many, many more....

Sandy Pond on Lk Ontario is my favorite place on the planet the first two weeks of July.

I'm a little north of the Capital. I mostly fish the Hudson and Mohawk rivers, with frequent trips to lesser known puddles :)

Couple more from the capital area. Round Lake awesome LM fishing in the spring till the weeds completely take it take over. Ballston Lake which was once NYS record holder lake for LMB and Pike back in the day. And if you feel like walking banks you have Schoharie creek AWESOME SMB fishing, hit the large deep pools you can pull out some nice walleye. I personally spend alot of time on the Merky Mohawk I just love fishin that river. Oh yeah if ya just have a row boat and electric trollin motor ya have Collins Lake in Scotia NY there are some monster LMB in there. My uncle a couple years ago caught a 46" Tiger Musky out of there.
