INDIANA WHO'S WHO

Featured Replies

THought I would ride on the coat tails of another post. Anyways. I a Randy from Indianapolis. I usually fish Geist Res. and at the pits in Greene-Sullivan State Forest. I own a 07 Bass Tracker with a buddy. We are not in a club but are interested. Been a BAAAD year of fishing for us. Not much luck

HOW BOUT YA? Any info. Where you fish, boater-nonboater, Club or no club

Rand,

I fish Geist also. Mainly the IN fishers of men north. That is great trail with a lot of great people. For clubs, check the tbf site for IN. That will give you a list of clubs in your area.

It was a rough year for us also. There is always next year.

Well glad to hear we weren't only ones with troubles....I guess. Anyways, first year with a boat so I guess it was bound to be that way. Like to get into a club so that we are forced to fish diff places. Big water is so different to fish. Have a long way to go.

Rand

First year with a boat huh? I remeber my first year also. 14' semiV 9hp johnson. The bad part is that we caught more fish from that than from my bass boat. A whole new world has opened up for you now. Congrats. Maybe we will see ya out there.

Hey guys My name is John and I have recently become a non-boater after many years of alum jons v-bottoms and finally stratos 201 f/s.

I have enjoyed

Lake Lemon, GlenFlint,Raccoon,Cataract,Monroe,Geist,Turtle Creek,Eagle Creek And most in Indiana while fishing in various clubs and tournaments.

Nowadays with 4 kids we tend to do alot of creek and pond fishing and are having a blast doing it.I do still have a 14' jon but rarely take it out.(just can't fit everybody in it) :)

Hey fellow Hoosiers!   Rand- I have also did quite a bit of fishing at Greene-Sullivan as well as Minnehaha strip pits.  Lake Sullivan is also a fairly good spot to go and they host several tourneys.  Once in awhile I'll head out to Turtle Creek, but it has severely deteriorated since its prime.  Once in awhile Ill venture out a little ways up to Raccoon or even Patoka.  If I get a crazy hair I'll even go over to the wabash and do a little catfishing.  Never really fished any of those northern lakes you all talk of.  Im from Sullivan county by the way.

Im a boater, did have a 03 Triton TR175 but I just traded that off for a 08 G3 1860CCT.  Less worry about knicking my fiberglass and more fishing.  Just as big and good for bass fishing plus I can do a little river fishing if the urge hits.  I did fish Midwest Bass club thursday nighters at Sullivan Lake but work has severely cut down on that for me.

Great to hear from more HOOSIERS. I love that Greene Sullivan county area. Wish I lived in the country. Sooner than later I hope. Haven't been to Sullivan but plan on doin so in spring. Patoka is a must for me and fishing partner this year. Lived in FL for three years. I HATE NOT FISHIN ALL YEAR LONG. Winter blows.

Rand

Where did you live in FL? I lved in W. Palm for a few years. That does spoil you on the fishing. Big O only 45 min away!!

I lived in Daytona. So lots of fishin Golf courses for me. Never got to O or Toho. Still kickin myself. Was a nonboater then.

Rand

Did you ever go to the race?

Hello everyone, my name is Eric and i live in Bloomington. I have fished patoka a couple of times, but I mainly fish monroe since i live within 2-3 minuets from three different ramps. Can any of you guys that have fished the Greene-Sullivan area give me the name of any pits that I could take my father-in-law to this summer. I would be bass fishing in the front of the boat and he would be crickets and a bobber in the back of the boat. Any help would be great he has never experienced a real good day on the water.

Didn't fish Greene-Sullivan this year. But used to alot. Lots of those pits get fished real hard. Have had good luck on Res. 26. Seems finnicky. Have caught a few four lbers out there. Also fished Corky. But never had much luck there. Yet did see a huge bass there. Haven't fished it in prob five years tho. Also fished duck and south. good for numbers not size for me. Talking about it makes me want to fish there. There is tons of water. Some off the beaten path.

I'm Caleb from Ohio, but I fish Tanner's, Turtle, Bryant's ect. creeks along the river a lot throughout the year. I know a lot of people don't like the River but I feel oddly at home there.

you're right flippin. Some people don't like the river. I don't understand why people shy away from a challenging fishery. I think it makes you a better all around fisherman when you challenge yourself. So what if your not catching 4 or 5 per hour.

If were easy to catch fish all the time, the tackle and fishing industry would not be what it is today.

I am also from ohio I would rather fish the river i feel Ive done my best there in tournys

Hello from NW Indiana...we moved here (Valpo area) a little over a year ago.

Any suggestions on decent water to fish on up here?  Or, how about decent day trips to bigger waters?

  • 1 month later...

hey from Avon a east suburb of indy just moved here in november anywhere good to fish around here and by the way where is geist ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you live in Avon, I would just head on up to waveland, racoon, or glenn flint.  Cataract or Cagles mill (same lake just called a diff name by diff people)  Cataract threw out some weight late last season.  it was way too high until late July I think.

Hello Fellow Hoosiers:

I'm up in rural Madison county and fish mainly out of a Lowe Lake-Jon. My main lakes are Summit, Westwood Run, and Prairie Creek Reservoir. I also try to get over to Brookville, Patoka, and Salamonie.

In addition to big water, I spend a great deal of time in/around local ponds and creeks. I hunt the West Fork of the White year-round for smallmouths. I try to get all over the state; weather, money, time permitting - wherever the action is...

I also spend a good amount of time fishing East Tennessee where my family lives. Excellent smallmouth, walleye, and trout fishing...

Hey blade-runner,

Might see ya on some of those lakes. Live in Blackford co. and work in Grant. Fish Summit a few times a year and hit westwod too. Get my boat serviced at drydock on prarie creek. Good luck to ya and we'll see ya out there.

My name is Nathan I live in Franklin,In. I just started bass fishing last year and had really good luck. I am now hooked on fishing and plan on getting into a club and fishing some tournaments to learn from some people that have been fishing al long time.

Jim here. I live in Anderson in Madison County, but we have a place in the Barbee Chain of Lakes in Kosciusko County up north, so that is where I do my fishing.

Go up north to fish sometime. With the Barbee Chain, Webster, Tippecanoe and Wawasee Lakes you can find just about any kind of fishing you want, all on natural glacial lakes that are pretty clear.

I target bass most of the time, but from bluegill to muskie you can have a great time fishing these lakes.

I am a boater, but lost the battle to my wife and daughter and have an 18' pontoon. However, I did manage to get one that is set up for fishing...and it gives us plenty of room for my wife to read and sun herself while my grandson and I fish. Since it is only 18' it is a dandy size...not too small and not too big to get into the backwaters.

northerner here too, i am in noble county. i am in the chain o'lakes system, nice clear glacial lakes here too. i am also a boater,17'nitro, and most weekends can be found ticking off fish of some kind in northeast indiana. if anyone has any good spots around the area and wants to help a fellow angler...feel free to pm me the info. i like bass and musky but not prejudice against any other fish. may the schwartz be with you!

YO EVERYONE, BILLYD HERE, I'VE GOT MY OWN PIT I LIVE ON IN CLAY COUNTY, BOUT 15 ACRES OR SO. ANY ONE IN THE AREA SHOULD GET IN TOUCH. GOING SATURDAY FOR SURE, GOING TO BE 70 DEGREES. GOING TO MY UNION MEETING NOW BUT WILL CHECK IN LATER.  TIGHT LINES!!!!

Hello fellow Hoosiers, I'm from the south, clark county. I'm sure you guys are just as happy as I am about the weather getting ready to break, its suppose to get close to 80 tomorrow !

My fav. lakes are :

John Hay lake

Hoosier national forest lakes
