Where are all the Illinois Guys ?

Featured Replies

Just got back from there.  I was with the rocktown adventures booth with the kayaks all the way in the back.  Didn't see many deals, did get to check out some daiwa reels (no steez tws) like the SV103 and saw lots of big swimbaits and jdm tackle by the big fish tank.

I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

I went to Schaumburg today. I was impressed at the amount of people that attended. The place was packed.

The real question is...what did you buy?

Pickles

My dad bought a shimano combo. I did all my shopping online. The only thing left to buy is a push pole and I'll pick that up at Cabelas

That's all I do now. Main reason I didn't bother venturing up to Schaumburg because they don't have the deals they used to. Plus, all new and upcoming stuff is introduced via social media/web so its not really like you're going to see something new.

Enjoy your dills.

I usually do a lot of shopping online too. But, while I was at the Schaumburg show working my fishing clubs booth, I stopped at the Garmin booth. I'm looking for a depth finder and was not even considering a Garmin, until I saw what they had and the rep told me about a sale that Bass Pro would be having. Glad I was there.

Fished a local pond today, caught one that was around a pound and a half. Yo-yo ing a red eye shad out of the weeds on the bottom. It was a cold one!

Anyone planning any outings this next weekend? I might try to get out during the week and throw some soft baits at the fox river for no reason.

Tom H. Do you ever fish Fulton County recreation?

Ranger casey: how was kinkaid to you? Only fished it once, didnt do so good. Pretty lake though. Want to get back down their.

Fished it three time this past fall.  Last time was the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  Caught Large mouth bass every trip back in the small coves.

How's it going everyone!  I'm new to the forum!  I'm originally from California and used to fish a bit with my uncle there.  Don't know what happened but recently been obsessed with fishing and this will be my first coming spring as a determined Illinois fisherman!

Welcome

Just wanted to say hi to you northern Illinois guys, I am new to the site, I live near Springfield let me know if you come down we can fish Lake Springfield.

  • Super User

Welcome. There's a few guys on here that are from down your way. You can post your local reports and outings and any IL specific fishing related things. Local fishing legislation that affects us and whatever else you can think of.

With the mild winter we've had this year (Northern Illinois area), how early would you guess pre-spawn for us?

Hard to gauge, but last year I think I saw some of my best fishing near the end of March.  Water temp was between 45 and 55 degrees.

Let's see how quickly the ice thaws

Shooting for Friday to get the new boat out to break in the new 115 merc. Looking to go to Morris or Starved Rock, Fri temps should be in the high 40s with sun so????? If we finish with lots of time left in the day I might try fishing the lower dam with some jigs

I was under the impression that Morris  (Heidecke Lake) wasn't open yet??? April 1st?

Heidecke Lake is not in Morris. However, the Illinois River is and that's probably the water he will launch on.
