night bass

Featured Replies

Anything that makes alot of noise and alot of vibration.  If you can find a lighted boat dock, or anywhere with a light over the water, use anything you would normally use in the daytime.

I found that fishing at night, around a lighted dock, will improve your sense of feel for when you fish in the daytime.

i have also found when fishing for bass with soft plastic such as a brush hog use a larger size and attach a rattle then fish it c-rigged or t-rigged.

When night fishing remember that bass sight is limited. With that being said i prefer noisy lures.

Here are my favorite baits for night time bassin in order.

1) Jitterbug

2) LC Sammy or Zara Spook

3) Spinnerbait

4) Black or Brown Jig with rattles.

Keep in mind that lights near boat docks or nearby street lights are essential because they offer a bit of light for bass to see the lure beter, according to Dough Hannon that is.

Fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. The only thing different I add to my repertoire at night is a Q-Beam!

I like fishing with dark colored topwater baits in the moonlight and lighter colors without so much lighting.

4" worms work too. It all depends on the night.

Good point Capn' Cali.  My largest bass that I caught at night was on a 4 inch YUM dinger.

Cranks, buzbaits and spinnerbaits are the way to go, and will always produce in day or night.

a black/blue chatterbait works best for me at night, spinnerbaits and all the stuff everyone elses said works great too.

for night fishing i would go with:

black nickel single colarado deep cup blade with short arm and black with blue or red flake skirt

ribbontail worm with a rattling weight etc.

I night fish for smallies a lot on Deep Creek Lake in MD in the summer. I use a Super Spook JR., jigs with rattles, buzzbaits, short arm spinnerbaits with big col. blades and tubes with rattles dragged slowwwwly along the bottom.  For largemouth I use the same but, add a big  12"worm to my arsenal. I also slow reel a dark red wiggle wart so that it bumps the rocks on the bottom.

PS- Hey Vyron, that sure is one of the nicest looking Pop-R's I have seen, ;) ;D

try a 1 oz black/blue flipping jig with a large grub trailor and swin it or jig it

A buddy of mine and I fished tuesday night tournaments on our home town lake during the summer, and my go to bait is about 5" black and blue craw texas rigged with a pretty good size weight on it.  Get the ones that are all black with blue pinchers.  Also if you can get to a welll lite dam, go to it and work a big jig, in like black and junebug with black pig.  Also a large 1 oz spinnerbait with the largest blades you can find works pretty good.

I fish Wilson Lake in north AL about every other Friday night durring the summer. I used a black ZOOM c-tail worm last year and the best five would have went 25lbs. and we never started the big motor. Now I fish it all the time, but I do still fish a black/blue jig also.
