Best shallow running crankbait?

Featured Replies

Guys, what should I pick up from the store in a shallow crankbait? I want something that runs just a foot or two deep for running through a cove.

Bomber Square A

Norman Fat Boy

Mann's -1

For a bigger profile and just a bit deeper, Bagley BII

8-)

I don't know if it's the best but I've had very good results with Manns minus 1.

Cool- thanks for some ideas guys- I need something for shallow areas- it really hurts my feelings to lose a 6 dollar crank because it drug bottom and grabbed a limb. I'd probably use crankbaits more often if not for that...

The best and cheapest is the Bandit series.

The Bandit Footloose runs 0-1 feet.

The Bandit 100 runs 0-4 feet.

Both baits are amazing for their $4 price tag.

Only thing better in my opinion is the Bagley squarelipped Bs (B1, 2, &3) or the Bagley Bulgin Bs (also in 1,2,&3 sizes), but they will cost you more than $6...

Manns -1 works great for me, it consistenly puts bass in the live well.

I get some of my crank baits at wal mart they sell for 1.97 and they seen to work as well as the 6 to 8 dollar ones

Hi nralover, I would suggest the Bandit 100 in Natural Goby, or if you go to basspro get the micro tourney special.

My two favorites are:

1- Bomber Square A

2- Norman Mad N

Falcon

ditto on the bandit 100 im partial to the rootbeer and various craw schemes. i feel it is a better crawfish/bluegill imitator

when theyre eating the shad you cannot go wrong with the speed trap. chrome blue or rootbeer (its actually different than bandits rootbeer) and ive just started using a color called wedgy with good results

I ended up grabbing a couple Mann's -1's in a firetiger type pattern. I figure it will do for a bluegill type color. That seems to be the main forage in this little lake I live near...
