Yeah so today me and my friend Dan where hunting squirrels and I got one. 'Bout 40ft shot right to the heart, the squirrel didn't even know what hit 'em. Took 'em back, cleaned 'em out, cooked 'em up, and boy! it was good! Best game I've ever tasted, thats for sure. Beats chicken and beef and venison by a long shot. Real easy to clean and everything!

I love squirrel hunting.  My wife gave me a new .410 for Christmas, and I wacked several with it during January (she even killed her first one with it).  I also got a 10/22 about a month ago (right after squirrel season went out).  I'm looking forward to October to try it out.  Squirrel hunting is as much fun as bass fishing!

Oh man, don't get me started on squirrel hunting.  I almost enjoy it as much as I do turkey hunting.

The first time I ever went up into a deer stand by myself (I guess I was about 10) I was tormented by these two squirrels.  They kept climbing around inside my box stand, which terrified me at that age.  Ever since then, I have held a personal grudge against those furry little critters and have been squirrel hunting ever since.

I hate cleaning them, but fried squirrel is worth it.

I was Deer hunting once and had about 12-15 of em chattering eating my corn... so I got down, walked back to the cabin and grabbed my cousin who had come in early.  Told him to grab his shotgun if he had a small game license.  Walked back and proceeded to eliminate the corn theives.  Brought about 7-8 of em back.. skinned em and cleaned em and put em on the grill..

I got to tell you it didnt taste real good.  But perhaps I prepared it wrong.  IT was EXTREMELY tough

I love me some squirrel stew, with potatoes, corn, carrots, etc.. seasoned up good, and left to simmer for a good long while..

Nope, not an eastern thing, I am from Montana originally and Most recently, Washington state before my wife drug me here to Georgia...

Have you ever eaten bear or cougar????  Now that is a western thing, for sure.    

Now if we were talking possum, then, yea, I would have to agree with you.

We used to drive to Luling TX from Hammond La. about 8 hours. We would burn up several boxes of shotgun shells and kill 75 or a 100 squirrels. Before you PETA conservationists have a kitty, in TX at the time, they were crop depredators. That means that they were a pest/varmint. No limit and no closed season. We would skin squirrels till the wee hours and the ensuing squirrel/fish fry with hush puppies was a feast beyond belief. You just had to be there.

I haven't squirrel hunted in 3-4 years.  Fishing cuts into my hunting time in the fall.  :-/

growing up in Arkansas I loved hunting squirrels.  I really do miss them here in Idaho.  Eat some for me too.

I used to hunt squirrels when I was a kid but I never ate them. My grandparents and great-grandparents ate squirrel and rabbit meat. Can't say I ever would!

We ate alot of rabbit and squirrel when I was a boy.  We used to walk a creek bottom full of pecan trees below my grandmother's house.  There was an abundance of them there.  I've not hunted much as an adult. Like Burley, fishing has taken over most of my free time. I liked them grilled, fried, and stewed.  I've got a dozen or more running in and out of my back yard.  I've got a good mind to peg one with the pellet gun and fry him up!

Rabbits are surprisingly delicious.I ate my pet rabbit... :-[

I took Home Ec. my senior year.  Needed a filler class.

Anywho, the teacher told us we should bring in some things to cook from time to time.  So me being me   , I went out that evening, got a limit of fat fox squirrels, cleaned them up and took them to school the next morning.

We had half the teachers in the school in the kitchen trying to get some of that squirrel gravy and biscuits.  

I need to go out and get a few squacks.

What type of squirrel meat does everyone prefer?  I like the grays better than a fox squirrel.

HUNTERS, PROTECT YOUR FEEDERS!  Corn is too expensive.
