This is going to far ( Just Got To Vent )

Recommended Posts

One of our locals got killed in Irag Saturday, His funeral is to take place next Wednesday. He will have a military escort and burial. I personally thank him for his services and the ultimate sacrifice he made for our country. The problem I have is we have been told that there will be some out of town protesters of the war at the entrance to the cemetery. I don't like this at all and still trying to come up with something to do to them. I know they have the right to do it but my Dad always told me that there is consequences to your rights. I just had to vent.

Why would anyone protest at a funeral. Can't these idiots think about the family and friends and not make the funeral a circus. I don't support the war but I support the troops. This would be a very insensitive thing to do to the family and friends.

You should shoot them with paintballs.

Is this the same wackos that protested down in Jacksonville a few months ago at a military funeral? I believe they were the Westboro Baptist Church (not any affiliation with the actual Baptist denomination, and certainly not any affiliation with the actual Church).

Frog,

PM me where the cemetary is and I'll meet you there.

War protestors are usually COWARDS who haven't the GUTS to fight for any reason (including those who FLEE the US to evade serving in the Armed Forces - are you listening Bill Clinton??). Sorry but that's MY OPINION and after serving 3 tours in Vietnam I feel that I'm entitled to it!!!

PS: my oldest son also served a 16 month stint as a HumVee turret gunner MP protecting convoys in Iraq and I'm PROUD as he** of him!!!

Not venting...just the truth as far as I'm concerned.

What would I do? Honor the ONE who has laid his life down for this country and turn my back on the protesters who did the same to this country. NUFF said.

Don't worry.

The American Legion Riders usually show up to keep the peace with the protesters.

Nothing violent.  Just some nice vets on their Harleys being nice to everyone as us old retired or discharged military types are at all times.

Tell them to move back to Canada or france or where ever they came from. If you did that around here they would be shipping what is left of you in a ziploc bag. There are a lot of patriots around my neck of the woods.

There are good ways to protest and there are bad ways to protest.  Going to a war vets. funeral is as low as you can get.  If they want to protest the war in Iraq, why don't they go to the Recruiting Office where it all starts.  It takes a true coward to protest a man's death, especially one that serves this country.

They're from Topeka, Kansas.  Any further discussion of their reasons for demonstrating would probably violate BR's restrictions on religious discussions.

We're called the Patriot guard Riders.  You don't need a Harley, they also use cars (known as cagers).  Anyone can participate, it's all about honoring the fallen hero and protecting their families from possible protesters through NON-VIOLENT means.  Basically, if protesters show up, they are blocked off from view of the family with American flags and their chants are drowned by the revving of the motorcycle engines.  pretty moving and the least we could do for these families.

Is it considered "violent" if you just walk up to them, smile, and pee on them?

Wow,that's low!

Maybe try to get where they can't come closer than a 1000-2000 yards,or they'll be sent to prison.Least the city could do for the grieving family.

Honestly if my loved one dies and somebody pulled that crap, you can say there will be hell to pay.I wouldn't be in my right state of mind.

Protesting at the funeral of somebody that paid the ultimate price for your freedom is as low as it gets. I've been serving in the military for over 9 years so I may be a little bit bias. If you don't agree with the war there are more respectable ways to voice your opinion. Many places are passing laws now that prohibit protesting at funerals based on acts like the one mentioned. People like that deserve to be the proud recipients of not so random acts of violence.

Fishindaddy- I know you are joking, but to answer your question, peeing on somebody is also considered assault. You might as well give them what they deserve if it going to be the same charge.

Not trying to offend anyone, just my opinion.

Joe

What these protesters don't understand is that it is this families sacrafice as well as the sacrifces and service of others that gives them the right to protest.  Let them try that crap in China and see what happens.  God bless and all of you that have served and sacraficed for our country.

OK here I sit... in a metal box in Iraq called a CHU... its 8X18 and thank god its got air, I deal with violence EVERY SINGLE DAY I am here... I am the Battle NCO for a Brigade... so every IED, EVERY Small Arms event, EVERY Accident, Everything comes to me... I SEE IT ALL.. I have seen little girls shot because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time, I have seen miracles where my guys SHOULD be dead after an IED but walked away with a concussion and that is it. I have seen vehicles that got blown up and the soldier in it was FUSED TO THE FREAKING BODY OF THE VEHICLE... I haven't seen my family in going on a Year... I live EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY knowing that at ANY TIME they can mortar me.. right here.. in this metal box... or while I am walking to the latrine.. they can at ANY MINUTE drive a dump truck filled with home made explosives to my gate and blow the hell out of my camp.. and an explosion that size WILL effect the whole fob even if just to break windows... EVERY DAY I walk around with a weapon WITH ammunition in case they try and sneak in and I can "show them the way out"... Every night I go to sleep I do so knowing that there is someone less than a mile away from me that would love nothing better than for me to not wake up in the morning...so ask me if I think they have the right to protest these funerals?     ABSOLUTELY!... so I think its the most low down nasty disgusting thing in the world? ABSOLUTELY... that is why I love the Patriot Riders... they have the right to protest the protesters.... I have been to too many funerals... too many... and what would I do if I went to one and they were protesting? .... nothing.. like I did at the last one... I will not lower myself to their level... I will remember my brother with respect and HONOR... not by kicking the crap out of some moron that doesn't understand ONE WORD of what I have just typed... thank god there are those that get it...

I had NO CLUE that people would protest at a funeral. I cant even begin to tell you how crazy that sounds to me. That is very very disrespectful to the family and friends that are there trying to remember the good times they had with the soldier, not hear a group of folks telling them how they disagree. I cant imagine what i would do if there were protesters at a funeral of a person i knew, i would hit the roof. Theres a time and place for everything and a funeral is not one of them.

Our dear friends lost their son 2 years ago in Iraq.  Not only did the riders show up but some locals had already decided how to handle those guys on their own.

Their were no protesters to worry about.  ;)

I just don't understand how anyone for or against any war could think it is helping their cause to show up and protest at a freaking funeral.  Very disgraceful and I feel for the family if they have to be put through that.

For all the protesters know this particular young man could of signed up to help protect this great country, but been against this war.  However, he signed up and went and did his duty very bravely.  Now these Yahoos(wish I could use a better word) are going to show up and disgrace him. >:(

don't worry.. they aren't disgracing HIM.. they are disgracing themselves.. plus the Patriot riders or similar organization will ensure that this funeral is conducted with honor and dignity... that I have all the faith in the world in.
